  1. trust me, there's no comparison between 4/5 meets fees and what he's gonna make with all the tv/radio/party appearances... if he goes to "dancing with the stars", for instance, he's gonna spend about 10/12 weeks full time training and playing that show...and he's gonna get at least 200/300 k €/episode... and I'm only talking of one show (even if the top show on the main Italian TV channel)...
  2. I fear it's more a political thing, as we now have a new president of our fencing federation...and of course he couldn't do such move just before the Games after he was elected last Spring... however, I don't think Sirovich deserved to be fired as the other 2, who not only didn't lead their teams to the expected resuts, but also made all the wrong choices they could in building up to the Games... men's Sabre got even more than expected (even if with the "wrong" man in the individual event) and the girls we all knew they were overestimated as a team, when individually they just can't get past the second round of any world cup/champs/olympic competition...
  3. it's quite obvious... now he has to make the most money out of his wonder-success in Tokyo, which means he literally won't even train for the next 6 months at least... he'll be appearing in any tv & radio show day after day and every night he'll be the guest star in every disco-party in all the most famous discos in Italy... that's how you make money in Italy if you're not a footballer of a F1/MotoGP driver or a Tennis/Golf player... no way you can get I'm not even daring to say rich, but just wealthy if you practice any other individual sport than those named above...
  4. by the way... 3 years away from that sh*t and we already have a thread with 2 pages of posts! and I'm here, too... I just can't believe it happened for real...
  5. only if you have a proven Peter Pan syndrome... to confirm that, you'll be interviewed on all that teenager's stuff you can find on Netflix...
  6. yes, that substance (ostarine) is the new frontier of steroids, because it has (almost) the same effectivity, but without many of those really dangerous collateral effects that "natural" steroids (not to mention chemical derivates) have... also in Italy many athletes have been caught in the last couple of years (most notable name, Alex Di Giorgio, former swimmer of the Italian National team)... and I think we're gonna see many more in the next future...
  7. tbh, wrestling is one of the most demanding sport in the world...you need strenght, endurance, quickness and you also have to stay within a weight limit that usually is definitely not your natural one... basically, wrestling is open to almost all kinds of doping methods, since you have many aspects to keep under control... p.s. just to be precise about the sport's nature...not saying anything about anybody in particular...
  8. the problem is that you have to keep the 5-5-5 distribution of events...5 pistol, 5 rifle, 5 shotgun events... adding one of the events you named, would necessarily mean cutting a current rifle event, not a shotgun one...
  9. actually, mixed team skeet is going to replace mixed team trap in Paris 2024... they're going to hold only one of the two disciplines, alternating each time (so, in 2028 mixed team trap will be back instead of mixed team skeet)...
  10. we had a full thread dedicated to the 2019 world roller games... this is what happened that time... http://www.worldskate.org/news/44-skateboarding/3127-wrg-2019-downhill-skateboarding.html
  11. yeah, he looks "a man on a mission"... unfortunately, he's chosen the wrong mission once again, I fear...
  12. please, stop trolling again!!! they already released their calendar with a pause between February 2nd through February 23rd, which means they want the NHL players to go there (for obvious marketing reasons)... the only thing that could stop the NHL players before flying to China is a general boycott by the USA + Canada (or the Olympics being cancelled), otherwise everything is already set up for the big show of the year 2022...
  13. I agree with @dcro the only different feeling is maybe that I had the chance to enjoy a lot of Italian medals (some of them really unexpected and emotional), but I also experienced some flops that turned me off big time... but for what concerns the general feeling about the Games, I couldn't explain with better words than our friend... I really hope that Paris would be able to do a lot better in terms of general athmosphere and people's participation (both in the stadiums and outside)... p.s. should those idiots who replaced karate with breakdancing starve to death!
  14. yeah, the 5-weight per gender total is already established...so, I thought this could be the most fair subdivision of the classes to come...
  15. 1. Rate the performance on a scale of 1-10 Athletics...10+ Weightlifting...9.5 Taekwondo, Sailing, Track Cycling, Rowing, Karate, Gymnastics, Archery...6 Swimming 4.5 most of the remaining sports...3 Shooting, Fencing...1 2. What were the surprises and heartbreaks ? Surprises - Athletics above all, obviously... Palmisano was our only true gold medal candidate (and a not locked one), Tamberi was also a minor medal candidate with a bit of optimism... but the others...who would have ever thought about Jacobs and the men's 4*100m relay? me, not... Rowing, too...I mean, I expected the women's lightweight double to fight for bronze at best, but they were just amazing, gifting me of one of the most intense feelings of all the games... Heartbreaks - Frank Chamizo and Manuel Lombardo are maybe the 2 most painful flops of the Games for me, personally...but frankly we had so many disappointing performances (especially in shooting and fencing) that I can't count them... 3. Was your country's goal achieved? definitely, yes... we expected our usual 30 medals, 8 golds performance...but we come home with a record-breaking total of 40 medals and we're also back to double digit gold total, which is quite surprising if we look at how many expected medals we missed in our supposed main sports... 4. Which are the sports that will be invested more in future? as usual, our funding is connected to the number of people practicing the sport...so, there's no way to move from the "Football, than the rest" scheme, with swimming, athletics, volleyball, basketball and tennis getting the most money out of our resources left by football... unfortunately, those disciplines that should get more attention and more money to become more competitive in the next future will be the sports that get the least money, despite their results...
  16. Gaia Sabbatini (athletics, 1500m for now...who knows in 3 years time?) https://www.instagram.com/p/CQ6qL1gBXb6/ Lorenzo Galossi (born 2006, swimming, 100m through 800m freestyle for now...who knows in 3 years time?) OK...this is truly a long shot, but I really hope he's gonna be the next Paltrinieri (on slightly shorter distances)...
  17. OK, I didn't know that it was so demanding... I was just thinking it was a simple technical issue to adapt some features to the tapatalk app... if it means selling our soul to someone else, of course I don't want that... make as if I never asked anything about it...
  18. my 2 cents... men: -65kg, -75kg, -85kg, -100kg, +100kg women: -54kg, -62kg, -70kg, -80kg, +80kg
  19. do you think would it be possible to make the forum available through the tapatalk app in the next future? it would be easier to use (to read posts, at least) on mobile phones rather than with a normal browser...
  20. in any case, I think they must put an age limit (at least no sub-14) in skateboarding, as other sports normally played by very young boys and girls have (thinking of diving and gymnastics, for instance)... but replacing karate with breakdancing is just a capital mistake...actually, it's a shame...pure sh*t...because of that, I already hate the Paris Games and the IOC...
  21. I just can't stop re-watching the Italian commentators' reactions in the last laps of the men's team pursuit on eurosport player... they always make me cry because of the win, but also because how crazy they went...they almost destroyed the commentary box...
  22. In 3 years time, I hope to see madame Carla Bruni singing the Olympic Anthem "her way" at the opening ceremony...
  23. they just need to hire docs and managers like Canova, Rosa or Hermens for some of their athletes and they will suddenly become a powerhouse (just look at Uganda)...
  24. they should have a few more individual events in the last 2/3 days...otherwise it's always only athletics, a few boxing finals and team sports... I think every edition of the games should have something different from each other in the display of the schedule (for instance, this time I really appreciated to have karate and track cycling in the second week and taekwondo at the beginning...I hope in Paris they would change something once again -even considering that we're gonna have the useless breakdance, which could esily be in the middle weekend...who cares? and no karate...with weightlifting also shortened to 5+5 events only)... It's like having daily meals...I just can't stand the same thing every single day...I like some kind of variety, one day it's pasta, the following it's rice...one day it's meat, the following it's fish (and possibly with different recipes from time to time, too)... by the way, I'm in the middle of my "Olympic depression" phase...and it's reaching unexpected levels, despite having mixed feelings about the Tokyo Games and not a full 100% genuine enthusiasm like in the past (for may reasons, some of them I already explained before the Olympics started in another thread)... luckily, MLB season is well underway and hockey is just around the corner (a couple of weeks and we're there)...
  25. Aghayev was penalized for simulation, for faking the hit was harder than it actually looked (if you notice, the ref before awarding any penalty of that kind, goes to watch carefully the face of the athlete hit by a punch or a kick...if there's no physical damage or you're not groggy, the ref should do what was done in this case -unfortunately it doesn't always happen...they normally give the penalty to the hitter, which is a mistake because hits are allowed*, they just have to be "under control" in order not to get the opponent injured, like it happened today in the final match of the men's +75kg class)... *this version of Karate is also named "semi-contact", in opposition to other formats being "full-contact", like my favourite version, Kyokushinkai...
