  1. Carrington will be going until Brisbane 2032 right? With the way she is paddling there wouldn't be much trouble staying for her home Olympics.
  2. The combined format is good, no need to separate the events.
  3. Brave of you to say, given that it was certain the war would be over "in a few months, then a year, then it couldn't go to two years" etc. I've said it before, but with America's rich, rich history in boxing, I'd be flabbergasted if they'd drop boxing right before their hosting. No matter what kind of other scandals the IOC has with boxing, it will be a gigantic opportunity for the US to revive interest in this sport and I'm sure there are lots of regional and local parties with interests in this.
  4. This could very likely come down to Golf and Breaking Like you said, China has 6 favorites to go to 39 - 2x weightlifting, diving, table tennis, synchro swimming and boxing. ( though with boxing and weightlifting you never know). US has the 6 in only 2x basketball, canoeing, 2x athletics and 1 wrestling I'd give them for now. And they still have a few more, where it's possible, so they need to severely underperform to not finish first. Realistically for China to have a chance, without the unknown events like golf and breaking, the US need to lose 3/4 team finals and get 1 gold in athletics, or 2/2 and nothing in athletics. Or they don't win anything in wrestling, but all of that seems highly unlikely.
  5. Yeah, many countries will have their best Games recently, but in hindsight not having Russia played a big factor. And even in Tokyo Russia weren't competing with their full potential. I had mentioned it a few months back, that it was very likely, that the top 10 this year will all have 10+ gold medals, which I'm not sure if it has happened before.
  6. Wanted Brunner & Huberli to win, but still happy they got a medal. Will be rooting for in the final now.
  7. Warholm looked very rough. Haven't seen him out of breath that much recently.
  8. Haven't looked at it, but Ethiopia are probably having their worst Olympics in some time.
  9. What a run from Batocletti Almost beat Africa in the 10 000. Holy Smokes
  10. Very sad to see Yazdani getting an injury into the final. No one wants to win this way. Can't really feel happy for this win, as we know he wasn't a 100%.
  11. What a night for Germany, after someone mentioned how they can't win medals in athletics anymore
  12. Completely legal times in a completely legal period
  13. I am already happy with these Olympics, but i will be more happy if Natalia Kaczmarek gets a medal (or a win )
  14. Italy were this close to another medal That was one wild, wild 4x100, like usual.
  15. UK lost that relay, because of clumsy change-overs, especially the last one. Missed an opportunity of a lifetime.
  16. The Madison is always one big clusterfuck and you don't know what is happening And Italia gets their cycling gold from the Games.
  17. Japan has always been a big factor in women's wrestling, but i have never seen their men as prepared, as they are at these Olympics Doesn't matter if it's freestyle or GR, in the smaller categories Japan has been the top team. I mean Kyle Dake doesn't lose, like ever and that was one heck of an impressive performance from Takatani. I'm starting to confuse, if i'm watching wrestling or judo?
  18. Not surprising at all, as they only tired the athletes even more, instead of being some positive second chance.
  19. Have no idea, but now that you have mentioned it, it sure looks that way
  20. * 4 out of 7. Nasar's father is Lebanese, but that is the only foreign thing in him. From a young baby he has lived in Bulgaria, practically his whole life. If his name was Ivan no one would ever think of anything about his origin.
  21. Brilliant Boryana She played perfectly when it mattered and even got a Silver, that no one was expecting. First was reserved for the robot mannequin ages ago, so to come only 2 points behind is amazing. Can now retire with a big smile and relief about her career.
  22. Up to 89-90-91 kg. They have switched so much the categories in weightlifting, that you can't be sure, which is historically Middleweight, which is Light Heavyweight etc. WR before 1992 in 90 kg - 422.5 from Viktor Solodov WR from 1992-1997 in 91 kg - 412.5 from Aleksey Petrov Karlos being at 89 has 2 kilo disadvantage, but i think he has a few more in him. If he was 91 i'd say he could challenge for 410. But let's see, because he is only 20 years old and has time to "grow up" even more.
  23. Yeah, they would probably do that in the future, because IWF does that a lot... An outstanding performance in this category, that hasn't happened since the 90s Not close to the lineal WR from the 80s which is 422.5, but that isn't happening most likely never again. But it's so refreshing to have at least once a pre-Olympics favorite, that comes in and totally dominates like it is expected from him. This never happens to us in the 21st century .
