  1. Our team is going. Preparation is almost done and there is no news about a cancellation, that i could find.
  2. This should be much better, after the abysmal past 2 editions. Playing 4 matches in 5(6) days is still overkill, but AT LEAST there is a week break after that.
  3. Breaking news: Karate stays There is a petition going on with the support of the French Ministry.
  4. The athlete equality fetishism has already been achieved. RG (and Artistic S) is there to offset Greco-Roman. You can't remove something, because it unbalances the numbers. Wasn't this what they were always starving for? Guess not, bring in the "event" guillotine now. I'm already thinking 3D chess for the next "item" in 2032, that will "need" equaling.
  5. I think i have mentioned it before, that we are deservedly generous to our Olympic medalists. Sums approved already in 2019: GOLD - 250 000 leva = 128 000 Euro SILVER - 200 000 leva = 102 250 Euro BRONZE - 150 000 leva = 77 000 Euro There is a special formula for Team medals - 70% of the team gets 90% of the reward, while the other 30% get up to 50%. Don't know, if they are really using this, because our 5 gymnasts will get all 90% Rhythmic Gymnastics Group - 5 girls - 1 125 000 leva = 575 000 Euro (each girl gets 225 000 leva = 115 000 Euro) The reserve girls, that didn't compete will also get a reward, by decision of our gymnastics federation. 4th place - 40 000 leva = 20 450 Euro 5th place - 30 000 leva = 15 300 Euro 6th place - 20 000 leva = 10 200 Euro 7th place - 15 000 leva = 7 700 Euro 8th place - 10 000 leva = 5 100 Euro But this is not all. Like i have said (and some of you probably didn't believe me ) each Olympic medalist gets a monthly lifetime pension after their sporting career is over: Gold medalist - 3x of the current minimal wage salary in the country; Silver medalist - 90% of the 3x minimal wage salary; Bronze medalist - 80% of the 3x minimal wage salary. The Olympic pension is independent from any other salary the person can have after their sporting career, or their regular pension for old age.
  6. Probably USA again Aspen? Spain hosting a Winter Olympics would be cool though! With Soldeo in Andorra.
  7. No one wants men's rhythmic gymnastics, or synchronized swimming for that part... They are perfectly fine being women only events. And there should be no problem with that. Just like there shouldn't be any problem with wrestling and boxing having more men's events. But these conversations get more and more absurd with every passing Olympics...
  8. People have said that here as well, but i personally still consider Athens to be better. Sure we got one less Gold then, but we still had double the medals than in Tokyo
  9. Heaven's forbid the split is 51-49 or 52-48 Equal numbers in boxing, even though men have one more category
  10. Same Team Norge support is always appreciated by me.
  11. Welcome aboard Ted Favourite winter sports and/or athletes? What are you anticipating most from Beijing 2022
  12. Iran and Afghanistan fielding women's teams is very interesting (at least for my uneducated persona). Not the 2 nations you would associate with women's sports, even less so team ones.
  13. I haven't seen such an incompetent referee like this Grinfeld character He doesn't know where he is in the Ludogorets - Olympiacos match. If i wasn't watching it, i wouldn't have believed it.
  14. Aaaaaaaaand SHOCKER Messi signs with PSG. Why would he do anything else
  15. https://www.facebook.com/BGRGfederation/videos/981705962586534/
  16. Please NO new weight classes again!! This is getting a bigger joke, than it already is... Plus it wouldn't be possible to make a good distribution with only 5 either way. They would still want to have 10 weights in their World and Continental events. Just pick for the men - 61kg, 73kg, 81kg, 96kg, +109 (dropping 67kg and 109 kg) And for the women - 55kg, 64kg, 76kg, 87kg, +87 (dropping 49kg, 59 kg)
  17. Slightly off-topic, but it's a good of a thread like any. It's like a totally different place here today (not the forum, but the country here ) Remember 2 weeks ago, when i left the office and said, that only 1-2 of my colleagues were semi excited/interested in the Olympics. Well, i go to work today and people were buzzing. Now they know names, know events, they talk "Did you watch this, did you saw that". It's like i was in the Twilight zone Also it was mentioned that record number of young people were talking about it on the social media these past few days, with the unofficial title being "So, this is what having success in sport feels like. We don't have to rely only on our parents and grandparents stories." And i actually saw people defending our athletes, that didn't do that good. Because all of our medals were won by women, there are funny comments like "When is the Olympics for men starting?", "Have the men been left in the kitchen?" etc. And our past few delegations were usually labeled as tourists, going on a free vacation. Just like a week before Tokyo again. Now, all of a sudden, there are hardly any tourists and the ones that say that are countered with "They did their best" and "Even competing is a big success". Things are very bizarre
  18. Seems fun, we should definitely try it in February. One question though, is there a limit on athletes per event? As in, can i write 4 people in men's Luge for example? Or is it strictly 1 person/1 event
  19. Yes, because you are in America/Canada. Go ask your average Romanian, or Armenian, or Mongolian, or Kenyan.
  20. Geez, if you kept a quality number of 24 teams, such things wouldn't be necessary.
  21. And here is the comparison from Rio 2016 I've sorted them out by Rio first, so we can make a comparison, what was more popular then. Green means better, red is worse and white is pretty much the same.
  22. The timezone is the least of my worries I was talking about the largely botched qualifications already from 2019 and of course the epic meltdowns that happened in the last year and especially for those internet lunatics.
  23. Well it doesn't help that the sports programme in the last 3-5 Olympics is more Western-flavoured. Have the programme from the 80s and results would be different. But like you said, adapting and adjusting is what is most important. As is financing and structure of course. If you are Romania and Bulgaria, you can't rely today only on traditions and natural talent, when The Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Switzerland etc. are investing in facilities, technology, youth..
  24. You can't. Bach and his henchmen voted that they could leave only by their will.
