i was talking about the olympic games: it will be decided between netherlands, great britain, germany and sweden! and another 2 good European teams on the mat and America once again privileged

I thought GB could not qualify to the olympics because they are playing as other nations in FIFA and UEFA?

Accidental lol. I don't think you know womens soccer

no goals except penalties in the whole playoffs. But at least they won a game in full time. Better than when Portugal won men's euro.

Swedens silver in Rio was quite similar too, except that didn't win.

with that Said, they Did what they had to do to beat 3 strong teams in the playoffs and that is what counts - unfortunately

That backstroke's not gonna cut it on the final which is a shame because Sweden always seems to be one leg short in the medley relay.

The back stroke has always been that short leg but with Åstedt they should save a second. I also think L Hansson could do the backstroke which she is good at at least in short course. However I am not sure how much better she would be than Åstedt and If  that and Sjöström on the butterfly would make up for Coleman on Free. I think those options are quite similar.

Sjöström is one of the most sweet and enjoyable swimmers out there, but to be fair Phelps competed at only 6 WC (and practically 5, since he did only 1 discipline in 2001 at 15), while this is Sarah's 8th WC. Doesn't take the fact, that she is one of the greatest female swimmers ever.

Of course and she is also behind in number of golds. Sarah however was the same age at her first, but she took a gold. However what is disturbing for her when comparing historically is her olympic merits. 1 olympic gold and 3 other medals must be considered as very "bad" considering 11 world long course golds and world record in 4 LC distances

24.74 for Sjoestroem! Nobody's beating her tomorrow

We talk about Ledecky's dominance in the distance events but Sjoestroem might be even more dominant in this event. She has 25 of the top 26 times ever

Just too bad it is not an olympic event:d I guess she will make a comeback to 100 fly in Paris when she will not be able to race the 50

The fight for escaping relegation is going to be brutal. If you had asked me this morning, i would have chosen Finland as one of the 3, but they are doing very good so far.

Finland are 11 point back compared the calculations so this was "meant" to be a better day for them actually.

Antoher thing maybe someone knows , when givning out individual medals, not that I know if the athletes care, but do they also compare with the other divisions and there could be such results as the men's 800m where the winner comes from a lower ranked group?

Not the worst idea - hugely increases potential hosting opportunitis - lots of places in the southern hemisphere don't need a roof, probably moving towards a standardisation of the track dimensions, more focus on the camber, the bank turns, the short straights as a separate discipline to the 'long track'. Also allows 'short track' to experiment with new events ('weight-for-height, 'indoor' hammer, kilo, 200 m 'pursuit'-style starts, 2000m steeple etc...

Worst part of the idea is then that many events will be exactly the same. What will be the differensen between long course or short course high jump, long jump, shot put etc?
only affects the running, the long throws non-existence and the multipla events. I mean they are still so similar that the inspiration wr are considered as overall WR now. And without even have the weather as a difference...
