  1. What will happen if the French swimmers failed to reach the nation's Olympic qualifying cut for Rio? Damien Joly and Lara Grangeon did not attain the cut in the final.
  2. I assume all four Filipino boxers are expected to join hurdler Eric Cray in the roster, and if this happens, our country will now have 5 athletes. Good luck to these boxers in the semis! Never lose hope!
  3. SHOOTING TEAM Giovanni Cernogoraz - Men's trap Josip Glasnović - Men's trap Petar Gorša - Men's rifle events (AR60, FR60PR, FR3X40) Snježana Pejčić - Women's rifle events (AR40, STR3X20) Valentina Gustin? - Women's air rifle (AR40) Tanja Perec? - Women's rifle three positions (STR3X20) Marija Marović - Women's pistol events (AP40, SP) I just noticed that Croatian female shooters outnumbered the males for Rio 2016, as compared to the previous Games. Do you think this list is officially final, dcro? I was assuming if Croatia had an opportunity to trade a spot for any of the rifle events among the females with Bojan Durkovic in the men's rifle.
  4. In two World Cup meets, how will you select the best and second best German shooters in each individual event (depending on the number of quotas) who are eligible to qualify for the Games? When they collect the number of points at their respective shooting events, will their scores be determined by getting the average between the two meets or the combined total? How come rifle prone specialists Daniel Brodmeier and Henri Junghanel are the only members of the German team to assure selection according to DOSB? I've just seen the list of shooters with MQS in ISSF website and there are 10 Germans in the 50 m rifle prone.
  5. Based on the list of quota places earned by the Germans, who among them should keep their berths, who will occupy the places to earn selection to the Olympic team, and who deserves to accept the spot traded by the Germans in one of the qualifying events? I've already seen the qualifying criteria translated in German, and I'm getting puzzled on the qualifying process. How will the Germans choose the most deserving shooters for the Games?
  6. Why Karsch? How about Munkhbayar Dorsjuren? She and Karsch share the highest score among the women in the air pistol.
  7. Kindly post the FB link for easier access. Thanks!
  8. OLYMPIC TEAM Ari Pekka Liukkonen (50 m freestyle) Matti Mattsson (200 m breaststroke) Jenna Laukkanen (100 & 200 m breaststroke)
  9. So you meant that all of these French shooters who have earned the spots will be directly nominated to the Olympic team? I just also heard that the men's rifle and women's pistol shooters had competed against each other at the selection trials to decide on the second spot each in the following events: rifle prone and air rifle (M) and air pistol (W).
  10. Huh? What's this all about with the World Cup shotgun meet in Cyprus in connection to Rio 2016?
  11. I don't think the Germans might trade places in the men's double trap with the women's air pistol, since there's just one spot. What's the qualifying criteria thus far for Germany in shooting?
  12. Do you know how will the French shooters be selected for the Rio Olympics? I just need to know please.
  13. UNITED STATES Men's foil – Miles Chamley-Watson, Alexander Massialas, Gerek Meinhardt Women's epee – Katharine Holmes, Courtney Hurley, Kelley Hurley Women's sabre – Ibtihaj Muhammad, Dagmara Wozniak, Mariel Zagunis
  14. From the previous Games, both Sho Sakai and Ken Terauchi denied their places for London 2012, though they had finished within the top 16 at the FINA World Cup. Source
  15. Ok. Thanks. As a result, her quota will be denied. Am I right?
  16. Just to clarify, World Cup or World Champs? Both Itahashi and Sasaki finished within the top 16 at the FINA Diving World Cup. I'm so confused.
  17. Brazil already gave up the host place in the women's air pistol. Instead, it will be swapped to either of the following shooters: Bruno Lion Heck (rifle) or Julio Almeida (pistol).
  18. INDIA Abhinav Bindra (M) – 10 m air rifle Gagan Narang (M) – 10 m air rifle, 50 m rifle prone, 50 m rifle 3 positions* Chain Singh (M) – 50 m rifle prone, 50 m rifle 3 positions Jitu Rai (M) – 10 m air pistol, 50 m pistol Gurpreet Singh (M) – 10 m air pistol, 25 m rapid fire pistol Prakash Nanjappa (M) – 50 m pistol Kynan Chenai (M) – Trap Manavjit Singh Sandhu* (M) – Trap Mairaj Ahmad Khan (M) – Skeet Apurvi Chandela (W) – 10 m air rifle Ayonika Paul (W) – 10 m air rifle Heena Sidhu (W) – 10 m air pistol, 25 m pistol * exchange of quota places in the 50 m rifle 3 positions (won by Sanjeev Rajput) with the men's trap
  19. How come Sasaki's quota may be denied? She just finished within the top 18 at the FINA Diving World Cup. What's the rule for a Japanese diver to attain eligibility for the Olympic selection?
  20. For the women's boxing, what if one of the top two boxers in each division has directly qualified for the Olympics, and eventually, she would finish in the top 4 position at the Worlds, in which that position earned her a place at the Games? What will happen to her place that she earned at any continental qualifying tournament? Assuming that two semifinalists are vying for the unused berth, where only one of them will be awarded.
  21. Exactly. I just don't understand how did they let these boxers compete in the African qualifier, knowing that the NOC has denied selection for the athletes through the continental route. We'll see.
  22. I just don't understand the criteria that hamper the athletes' chances of competing at the Games through the continental route. There might be an appeal anytime soon if the SASCOC rules have permitted on them. Source
  23. Warning for the African Boxing Olympic Qualifier: Any South African boxer who advances to the final or the box-off will deny a berth on the Olympic team as the continental routes will not be considered for selection.
  24. for United States: * Beach Volleyball: Misty May-Treanor has already retired after her competition play in London with her partner Kerri Walsh, whose teamed up currently with April Ross for their Rio 2016 bid. * Boxing: Olympic bronze medalist Marlene Esparza lost her bid to Virginia Fuchs in the women's flyweight at the Olympic trials. * Diving: Boudia's synchronized platform partner Nick McCrory retired in March 2015 to pursue medical studies. * Gymnastics: Although the U.S. women's artistic gymnastics team already qualified for Rio to defend their title, Olympic silver medalist McKayla Maroney retired just less than six months before the Games. Obviously, the Americans are expected to have a few new faces among their members, including rising star Simona Biles, (thus meaning that not all the London medallists will be in Rio). * Shooting: Olympic champion Jamie Lynn Gray has already retired, and did not compete since London 2012. * Taekwondo: Terrence Jennings lost his bid to five-time Olympian Steven Lopez at the Olympic trials. Any details missing?
