  1. Great clear for Zaloznik. I bet this is the first time that the only ex-Yugoslav country competing at some World championships is Macedonia.
  2. Welp, I've seen much better speed competitions than this...
  3. Time for the first scheduled break. Shane Sweetnam was unbelieveably fast for the competition trail blazer. Meanwhile, I wonder if Colombia will once again come to Pan Ams as the big Olympic qualification favorite, only to end up completely wasting its chance...
  4. Ballard with the fastest time so far! But with one down, so she slots into 4th.
  5. Today's winner gets 0.00 points, while everyone else gets penalties that equal their deficit divided by two. So if you were 0.50 seconds slower than winner, you continue on 0.25 pens the next day.
  6. Welp, there go Israel's hopes. Too bad, as it looked like Ashlee was really going for the time.
  7. Nobody is really pushing for time so far...
  8. Fab round for a horse that left home in November last year to be here.
  9. Chile and Thailand all over the place...
  10. Keep in mind that this is a special speed competition. Jumping penalties will be converted into time (like in canoe slalom), and the athletes will be ranked by time. So you don't theoretically need to jump clear to win this round.
  11. Ireland was incredibly unlucky to be drawn first, but Shane delivered the goods with a steady clear.
  12. Time for 124-horses speed competition. It won't be as epic as 150-horses speed competition from Normandy four years ago, but still should be quite intriguing indeed.
  13. Because Azerbaijan. I'm pretty sure they also put tons of commercials for Tour of Azerbaijan, as if that's something remotely important.
  14. Some tidbits about Irish eventing team on social media ... @OlympicIRL
  15. Indeed, and the total length of 1.7km sounds perfect for the Olympics...
  16. Lambert Leclezio opens men's vaulting with 8.440. He used to compete for Mauritius for a long time, including 2014 WEG and 2016 Worlds (where he won an epic gold for the island nation). But obviously he was too good to be winning medals for Mauritius...
  17. Individual Championship Grade V Para-dressage Sophie Wells - 75.429% Frank Hosmar - 73.167% Regine Mispelkamp - 71.452% I couldn't quite decide between Mispelkamp and Nakamura for bronze, and for whatever reason I picked the Japanese.
  18. It's ! Who are you, Mr Longines? But yes, lots of mistakes for Lee, unfortunately.
  19. Doesn't Lesotho have some of the best African ski resorts? Yes, I just said "African" and "ski resort" in the same sentence, but it's not a joke.
  20. Women's vaulting will be just about the most competitive event of the WEG.
  21. Sheena Bendixen slots into 2nd place in vaulting compulsories. Great day for Denmark!
