  1. Well, the odds of testing positive (carrying the virus) should be lower, hence why in some places no self quarantine is needed after a possible exposure if you are vaccinated, or have recovered recently (which appears to be the more desirable option at the moment in terms of protection).
  3. They are the lucky ones, provided they get their immunity before Beijing. There will be loads of athletes withdrawing shortly before/after flying to the Olympics.
  4. Mind you, this sort of strategy has already been applied by other nations in the past. Swedish NOC famously declined to send Majorov in the men's single skating for Pyeongchang, because he already competed in Sochi and was not top-8 material in 2018. They literally chose to have nobody instead of someone who could place 15th or so. Meanwhile, they did send a weaker female skater because and only because it was to be her Olympic debut.
  5. How on earth can M 500 2 have higher priority than M 5000 3? This could end up with someone like Ntab going to the Olympics instead of Kramer. That's insane.
  6. Well, Snellink exploded, while Bosker just missed out. I guess this is a tough one for the latter. Schulting was surprisingly "slow" in the women's race... Meanwhile, Antoinette de Jong making it seems like a pretty big surprise.
  7. Watching on replay now... So NOS literally cut away from the 5000 m pair to show Kramer... climbing down and up the stairs.
  8. You know the Dutch are going to have poor Olympics, for their standards, when mass starts of all events are that high up on matrices.
  9. Di Silvestri dynasty finally has a heir. Obviously he will not see Beijing, but still, a heir is a heir. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=40686
  10. And just to add more to the drama of Russian Nationals, at yesterday's women's SP the judges placed 15-year-old Muravieva (not eligible for Beijing) 2nd. World Champion Shcherbakova was up next and was placed 3rd. But, the rankings were later changed. Muravieva was deducted one point for going over time limit. Deducting points way after someone's performance is of course against all regulations, but hey, we are talking about Russian Nationals here. It's to be expected. Anyways, looks like Valieva, Trusova and Shcherbakova are going to Beijing, with Valieva being an enormous gold medal favorite.
  11. Or outside GB/Ireland I guess.
  12. While they make good points, one wishes they at least made full accusations, or none at all, instead of these half-baked.
  13. Damn, I like this question. p.s. Sorry I was away earlier on.
  14. The damage has already been done. Unless all of the recent records are scratched, that is.
  15. LOL. Eteri's daughter is sure getting her due treatment. What a joke.
  16. Goutt secured his qualification for giant slalom for the first time following a couple of monstrous PBs at the almighty Timor-Leste National Championships in Kolašin, Montenegro. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/event-details.html?sectorcode=AL&eventid=51034&seasoncode=2022 Big PBs all around, with even Maeder dipping under 160 pts once, and Cyprus seemingly finally securing a female athlete. If I didn't know any better, I'd accuse them of collusion... Coming up later today in Kolašin... The National Championships.
  17. Second run for Koyama, Taylor, Salarich, Zlatkov.
  18. IBSF changed their qualification systems. Best 7 results will be taken into account, instead of the best 8.
  19. Considering two doses of vaccine have, reportedly, 0-20% efficacy against omicron, there is a reason for concern. The Tokyo "success" (I would never use that word) can't be presumed here. It's Winter and it's omicron. A vaccine adapted after omicron will not be ready before the Olympics. That much is certain.
  20. Sadly Jelinkova is really out of shape following her injury. Will the Dutch NOC revoke her selection, because you know, they can? @heywoodu
  21. Obviously everyone knows this song, but I guess only this year I finally realized how perfect (?) it actually is. That part from 3:10 is just magical.
  22. We also need the jaw drop, something stronger than "yikes".
  23. Zubčić is in his worst GS shape in years. What a timing.
  24. Interestingly, the media here seems to be in such an awe over Boric being a Croatian-Chilean that they don't even bother to mention he is one of those (domestically much despised) commies.
