  1. And note that because of OCA rules . each country can enter only 2 cyclists. this is not a normal road race with team work etc. if I'm not wrong this time they made it 4 for the men's road race (even though only 2 of them can win medal even if a country finish 1-2-3)
  2. That's Zurkhaneh sports. but that's not really a popular sport even in Iran. I'm sure those who practice it really enjoys it but that's a bit boring to watch. I change the channel immediately when I see that on TV. and while it exists in something like 20 countries in Asia but still Iran will dominate it heavily. beside that Iran doesn't have the majority vote in West Asia if they want to pick something and Afghanistan, Pakistan etc are in South Asia. only Iran and Iraq in West Asia. beside that, this sport is a bit religious, and someone has to sing in Persian during the show, I highly doubt our Arab neighbors like that. but we have so many crazy martial arts invented by the Iranians any sport with kicking and punching and throwing, we will be good at it
  3. I thought you are making a joke so let's say Sepaktakraw for Southeast Asia, Wushu for East Asia, Kabaddi for South Asia. what about Central and West Asia ?! OK we can think about Kurash for Central Asia but still West Asia (which is our region) never had a specific sport in the Games and I can't think of any sport. edit: OK Jujitsu came to mind, the Brazilian Jujitsu which is insanely popular in UAE but UAE is not equal to West Asia.
  4. China doesn't really need that. they can win medal at almost everything if I'm not wrong in current program they had won medal in all sports except only two, Kabaddi and Squash. but I think if China adding something to the Games, it's not really because they want to win more medals (like what Indonesia did) that's mostly because they want to develop some of their domestic sports in Asia.
  5. Yes that would hit Iran badly. which it did in boxing. for the first time in history we will most probably leave the Asian Games with no medal in boxing. in Karate and Weightlifting, that was Asian Federation who prevent such disaster to happen. I mean in weightlifting the super heavyweight is always the highlight of the competition how come they can even think about dropping that ! I blame other Asian countries for letting such a disaster to happen. if you check the news. they made some changes at the end when some Asian countries (and therefore some Asian sports federations) stood against them. even though to be honest while they cut some of our favorite events in Taekwondo. Wrestling, Archery etc. they also added Kurash and Sport climbing (we expect gold in both sports) I also can't believe how come we have Kurash, Jujitsu and Sambo altogether in the Games ! they are quite similar and similar to Judo ! this is not Indonesia's fault though. that was kind of a deal between OCA and Indonesia. when Indonesia was sabotaging the program. some other Asian countries (Uzbekistan, Kazkhastan and UAE) took advantage of it and added their own sports.
  6. Speaking of the program. this is the way I like it all Olympic events. plus full program in Taekwondo, Wrestling and Weightlifting, even though with Wrestling and Weightlifting having so many non-Olympic weights it will be hard to have all of them. 10 weights in wrestling is probably too much. but Taekwondo should have all 8 weights and NO poomsae. I also prefer a bigger program in shooting. and compound events in Archery. I also like the full program in Tennis, Table Tennis, Badminton and Squash. having "team event" in those sports is something traditional for the AG. they also can expend Track Cycling or Canoeing program. Sepaktakraw (only regu event, not some crazy new events like Quad or doubles) Kabaddi Wushu Bowling (only 4 events, no more) Baseball/Softball (I don't like it myself but it has enough popularity in some Asian countries) I like Sport Climbing as a core sport. with full program, not that weird combined event. I like cue sports back in the Games, with 4 or 6 events only. not a big program. about Cricket. only if top nations like India, Pakistan etc bring their best players, otherwise NO no Soft tennis. that's a stupid idea no Kurash, no Jujitsu, no Sambo, no paragliding and other Indonesian sports. no Dragon boat, NEVER ! no bodybuilding I know some countries (including Iran) are pushing for that. and no E-sports.
  7. and you know they dropped the whole compound program but after some protests they let the team event back to the Games. which I still can't udnerstand ! how come we have the team event ! and not the individual event . usually it should be the opposite of that !
  8. lol actually this is the first time that host nation is sabotaging the events at this scale. which is unbelievable and terrible but I think it has something to do with the fact hat Indonesia wasn't the original host. that was Vietnam but when they withdrew they couldn't find another host in such a short time and when Indonesia accepted this they probably had some conditions. OCA had a strict program until 2010 (host nation could not add even one sport to the Games) , in Guangzhou China added Dragon Boat, Dancesport and Roller sports. (I don't know if we can consider Go and Xiangqi as new since they were part of the Chess program) but that was 24 events in total. but after that OCA made a rule that number of events can't be changed by the host nation and we had nothing new for the 2014 Incheon program , but then they had to make some change for the reason I explained. by saying that OCA is no way a great organization. at best they should let Indonesia add one sport. no more. and it seems we will be back to the normal situation for 2022. Olympics sports + 6 non-Olympic sports (not picked up by the host) I'm OK if OCA itself decides to add anything but "not because of host nation's request"
  9. yeah I watched the game. very entertaining game. Clarkson missed a jump shot in last 30 seconds, they still had the last ball but went for a stupid 3. that would secure at least a silver medal for them. now I can say China is already in the final. because there are only 4 "good" teams here and 3 of them are on the other side of the draw. Philippines have to play South Korea in quarterfinal and the winner will get Iran in the semis.
  10. no it wasn't like she conceded the last point because of her celebration. they both scored at the same time on the last second , KOR scored one point punch while China scored two points body kick. the scoreboard showed Chinese score just a moment later. punch scores and body kick scores come from two different systems, that's why the delay. but yeah that was quite a dramatic ending. and I think a well deserved gold for China.
  11. Yeah in a blind draw and knockout system. Korean guy just took a round from invincible China, still lost 2-1 and will go home empty handed. one of our Sanda players are already out, but from what I see we will have 5 (out of 6) Iran-China finals. at least this time luck separates Iran and China in all (but one) weights till the final.
  12. Afghanistan secured a bronze medal in Wushu. I wasn't sure if they can win a medal in the whole Games since their taekwondo isn't good anymore and Cricket is not in the program.. good for them.
  13. Shinobu Ota he is a little monster and it's funny that Japan has another great wrestler in this weight Kenichiro Fumita, the current world champion. the level of this weight is too high in Asia . good for Mardani for winning the bronze. two bronze in Greco is good for today we know about the level of lighter weights in Asia but I expect 2 golds tomorrow.
  14. lol they added everything they had into the program. Poomsae, Paragliding, Dragon boat, Jet Ski, bridge and of course Pencak silat and they even selected events in other sports for their own benefit . for example they dropped all 3 heaviest weights in boxing. heaveist weight in Wushu. they also wanted to drop some Olympic events in Weightlifting and Karate.
  15. I had the same question so I read the rules. if I remember correctly in mixed team each pair consisted of one man and one woman. (each team consisted of 3 pairs iI think) while in supermixed team each pair can be consisted of two men or two women. . but in general there should be 3 men and 3 women in each team. in short. this is just a new event made by Indonesia to win one more medal.
  16. wow what a surprising gold medal. I wasn't even expecting a bronze for Rajabi with that very tough draw !
  17. yep I have the same problem using the app. and I almost threw my tablet away (i mean seriously) when it stopped working at 14-14 in fencing semifinal
  18. well we had 4 cyclists in top 5 in several events in Mountain bike but no medal a bronze is not a big deal in sports like wrestling or taekwondo but first ever medal in any sport is something special. I was hoping for more than 1 medal in MTB but we got nothing at the end.
  19. unbelievable. in taekwondo quarterfinal match between Iran and China. after 2 rounds and 30 seconds into the 3rd round our coach made a protest that the Chinese guy electronic system doesn't work and he was right !!! unbelievable who knows how many points Rajabi got robbed because of the broken system. fortunately for Rajabi they fixed it and he won the match narrowly. but he was kicking for nothing for 4:30 minutes !!
  20. And 4th place in women's MTB cross-country. I was hoping for our first ever medal in women's cycling but for whatever reason she fell behind by 6 minutes at the start (probably an accident) and even though she tried hard and her lap time was 2nd only behind the winner but that wasn't enough and she finished 4th edit: she had her bicycle snapped a chain and it took 6 minutes to fix that. that was very unlucky. I saw a clip of her crying over losing a sure medal. I would replace a silver or bronze here by a gold medal in wrestling on other hand we won our first surprising medal of the Games ! in women's taolu which is our first ever medal in women's taolu. for obvious reasons medals winning by our girls have more value for me. two silvers for Iranian women so far.
  21. both of our female taekwondo athletes are already out ! at least yesterday they lost in the 2nd round ! and Rajabi is out against Korea in 1st round. I have to correct myself our taekwondo is not even average anymore !
  22. I was checking some wrestling draws for Wednesday and I think our guy Hossein Nouri at 87kg is probably the luckiest wrestler we ever had ! first with 12 wrestlers only 4 of them are in top half including Nouri and the other 3 wrestlers are almost the weakest wrestlers in the competition. and if we replace TKM with that Indonesian guy it will be exactly the 3 weakest wrestler. Turkmenistan is guaranteed a bronze medal a wrestling I would like to see Indonesia and Thailand wrestling for the bronze I really hate these kind of drawing system. some of our wrestlers had/have to go through 2-3 world medalists to win a bronze ! but at least one of our wrestlers got extremely lucky. even though Nouri was favorite against anybody.
  23. Today was a really sad day. both Iran and Saudi Arabia tried their best to avoid South Korea. losing to Myanmar was shameful and ironically one more goal from Myanmar could eliminate Iran ! and Iranian players were wasting time in last minutes scared of a possible 3rd goal. I think Iran played with mostly reserve players probably wanting a 0-0 draw but Saudis let North Korea score two early goals which probably confused Iranian coaches , they didn't know what to do. the first goal oh yes. but second goal wasn't intentional , it happened because Myanmar had no idea about "fair play" when an Iranian player was on the ground and Iranian players were waiting for them to kick the ball out and after that, our scared Croat coach was just yelling to his players to just "pass the ball forever" ! I think the table is quite unbalanced and we will have two not-so-good teams in semifinal. but that's it. we have the toughest possible road (and we deserved it for unfair play) South Korea and then Uzbekistan (the current U23 Asian Champion)
  24. tthis is weird. they used the qualification results for the men's all-around "final result" but then we will have the separate "team final" ! it's usually the opposite of that.
