We have 45+1 (COR) NOCs in the competition. 33 of them already won a medal at least. 13 left without a medal surprising that Kuwait is still in this list ! I think they will win few medals. probably in Karate Tajikistan will win a medal by Nazarov tomorrow, and I think Syria stands a big chance in High jump (I assume that guy Ghazal is favorite for the gold since Barshim is not here) and I assume Sri Lanka will have some chances in athletics, right ? but what about the rest ?! Nepal blew a big chance today. for Oman the only notable athlete I know is Al-Harthi but he is just one of the favorites. I was expecting Brunei and East Timor to do something in Pencak silat but they didn't ! looks like there is no chance for Maldives, Palestine, Bangladesh and Bhutan , right ? I think Yemen has outside chance in Kurash. note: only 3 NOCs never won a medal in AG, Maldives, East Timor and Bhutan. we should have Palestine in this list too but they won a lucky bronze in boxing back in 2002 only because of his lucky draw.

well technically all those matches are eightfinals. and then the winner of those two mentioned matches will get bye in the quarterfinal. winners will be top 6 . for example if China loses to Iran they have to play for 7th to 12th places. they wanted to help Indonesia, so they gave that chance to Indonesia (host) and Iran (as seed 1, defending champion) but why China and Taipei are having that privilege ?! based on what they are getting such advantage ? they didn't win their groups. and you don't give bye in knockout rounds in team sports. AVC invented a super weird system this year and used it for all competitions. you can check Junior, Youth and Asian Club champs. and I will award you a PhD if you find a logic for that format. specially for AVC Cup with 9 teams. but the format they use here is ever more weird.

They use a very weird format for volleyball. but based on my understanding here is the bracket Saudi Arabia vs Chinese Taipei Thailand vs Indonesia Qatar vs Myanmar --------------------- Korea vs Pakistan Japan vs India Iran vs China winner of matches in bold will go directly to the semifinal and for example winner of KOR/PAK match will play the winner of JPN/IND match and winner will play the winner of IRN/CHN. so that's a sure thing we will have a new finalist in the history of Asian Games. Iran, China, Japan and Korea they are aill in bottom half ! (even though Japan and China are here with B teams) none of those teams in top half played in AG final before. Indonesia somehow invented this crazy format to find a way into the medal round. but they lost to Saudi Arabia and Saudis as Group A winner took their place . still Indonesia was lucky in the blind draw for 2nd placed teams and got into the top half.

maybe that was modesty from Indonesians maybe they thought winning all 16 gold medals won't be a good idea !

he won the gold in his first throw. the rest is just formality and our shot putters were unbelievably poor , Mehrdelan had 20m two weeks ago. here he rarely made it to 18m and even that was foul and didn't counted ! and Samari is the current Asian Champion for God sake. what the hell was that ! they could finish 2nd and 3rd.

Gold for Ganjzadeh even though that was almost guaranteed when Japan had no competitor in this weight (out of 6 events each country should pick 4 for each gender) I'm sure Ganjzadeh was waiting for this moment for 4 years, he got disqualified for protesting in Incheon 2014. but a sure gold medal wasted by Abbasali. she was leading 1-0 with 10 seconds to go and even 1-1 was enough for her since she had "Sansho" but she gave up a 2pts kick she beat this Japanese girl Uekusa a month ago in Asian Championship. but their matches are always close, this time Uekusa won.

there are usually 1kg allowance for local competitions here

I think it's fair to say Rostami is the stupidest person in the world. It's not even a surprise. I predicted this before , if you noticed he had no coach to sign the cards (for changing weights etc) he had to do it himself ! while Iranian coaches were 2 meters away from him. why !? because he wanted it this way. the funny thing is we had World Silver medalist in this weight !! (Ayoub Mouasvi) but they picked Rostami just because he is a big name. of course our coach didn't want that to happen but the federation president forced him to do that. I really hope this is last time for Rostami , I don't want to see this idiot again.

thanks to lucky draw. we will have Nepal and Pakistan fighting for bronze in women's Karate +68kg. I think Nepal is the huge favorite for their first medal in the Games.

and Moradi broke the oldest World Record in Weightlifting ! (even though all WRs will be gone next year with new weight classes).. with 14kg behind. I wonder what the idiot Rostami will do in CJ. will he give up the gold or will try something super stupid.

just for info. this is Dragon boat. they made it part of Canoeing competition to not add "another sport" ! that was smart Indonesia ! and damn I was hoping for a "no medal" for Unified Korea I just didn't want such non-existent country on the medal table.

Rostami will start with 185 !!! that's only 3kg behind the world record !!! (of course you can change that but they rarely change their opening weights) and Moradi with 180kg ! I just hope this nuclear war between these two guys won't end up by both of them bombing out !

whenever we participate in athletics competition at the Asian Games. half of our athletes leave the stadium directly to the hospital ! and it didn't change this year. so far 1 out of 1 for the hospital

I was checking Pencak silat results and I see Indonesia is undefeated so far ! with two more QFs to go. all of their athletes made it to the semifinal .all of them won their matches 5-0 (means they got all judges) I wonder if they show some kind of modesty or they are going to win all 16 gold medals ! among all OCA decisions this one was the worse letting them add a sport with 16 events !

second. Sorn won gold medal in Taekwondo back in 2014 Incheon. I remember that very well since she beat an Iranian girl in the final btw this girl Jessa Khan also beat an Iranian in her way to the final ! so looks like we are a lucky draw for Cambodia

since the official website sucks big time I always make list of our athletes in action for the next day to sort them by time etc. and surprisingly we have only few athletes in action for tomorrow ! but at least 3 of them are strong gold medal favorites in Weightlifting and Karate. even though Karate is highly unpredictable but if we are going to win few golds in Karate, Abbasali and Ganjzadeh are our best chance. plus Sohrab Moradi's gold in weightlifting is almost a sure thing.

I don't know why I'm watching our handball ! I guess I'm a masochist because I always know they are going to lose but gave myself false hope that this time will be different ! at the end of 1st half South Korea scored a goal from half the court while the keeper was in the goal (not an empty goal I mean) it just shows how pathetic is this team.

Gold for Iraq in weightlifting China's suspension didn't change a damn thing for Iran since Makvandi bombed out but I'm glad Iraqi guy took the gold.

Clean sweep in Kabaddi looks like we can keep the 4th place in medal table at least for one more day btw since I like statistics that women's kabaddi gold was only Iran's 5th gold medal won by women ! Fencing 1974 Wushu 2010 Shooting and Karate 2014 and Kabaddi 2018
