wow. that was the best ever chance for a gold. how the hell China managed to beat both Korea and Iran ! the last and only time Iran won a gold medal in Asian Senior Championship was back in 1997 when our current coach Peyman Fakhri won the individual Sabre gold in Tehran since then that was only silver and bronze.

I can't see anybody talking about that. from an Iranian point of view that wasn't an important moment of the match. now everybody cursing the VAR (even though I believe the linesman called that first even before VAR), Azmoun (for just walking the entire 90 minutes) and Taremi for missing some good chances. Well. that was heart-breaking. really heart-breaking. specially after that equalizing goal celebration. the same as Argentina 2014. that was more sad to let a dirty player like Costa taking credit for that goal which was in fact an own goal thanks to Rezaeian. we should take one of our chances in second half , I’m not saying we played pretty when we were parking the bus but I think we played good after the goal and had enough chance for at least a goal. A bit disappointed with the results. mostly because Fotouhi and Rahbari lost to non-Korean fencers ! apparently there were some dubious calls in Pakdaman-Gu semifinal which Pak lost 15-13. Iranian officials are very angry about this. our coach Fakhri is also an experienced FIE referee . when he protests he usually has a good reason. in team events I only expect a silver in men's sabre. we used to be good in men's epee but not anymore our NOC was supposed to decide about Fencing quota at the Asian Games based on these results. their initial decision was sending only men's sabre and men's epee.

I don't think so , I just saw something like 200 dives from German players asking for penalty, none of them was even close. I remember one mistake from linesman in favor of Germany in 2nd half where they almost scored. (even though I missed few minutes of the match)

probably men's team success inspired the women's team to try more but it's not like they are training together or having the same coach. I just hope our NOC changes its mind about not sending any female fencer to the Asian Games. women's sabre team deserves a chance.

People talk about "luck" like they never watched football before, luck always plays a big factor in football we were unlucky so many times in World Cup before so I take this win proudly and don't give a shit about all these things. the first 10 minutes was terrible but since then the match was pretty even and Iran missed the best chance of the match (Azmoun missing one-on-one in first half) of course it wasn't the best match we ever played but who cares, at this level the final score is the only thing matters. after those two forced substitutions I was OK with a draw but we got a lucky goal at the end. even though we were always good on set pieces. that was Morocco's fault giving up that foul near the box. I just hope Queiroz uses a better formation for the next matches, we can play much better than this. but for now, we have 5 days to celebrate this. and I think people are already celebrating this on the streets. winning a match in World Cup is always something special.

I was happy watching Saudi's humiliation but on other hand they shamed Asia as well, we will be the 2nd Asian team to play , I wonder if this result puts extra pressure on our players or not. 6 months ago I had much more confidence in Iran NT, but the last few friendlies and Queiroz team selection were disastrous ! he left some better players at home just beause of his personal problems with club managers. and what about our goalie ... I believe some people will have heart attack whenever ball comes anywhere near our box because of that goalkeeper people already made a lot of joke about this. but I still prefer to be optimistic, and want to believe Queiroz still has a trick up his sleeves but if we play with the same formation and the same tactic as Turkey friendly match it will be like a horror movie for the Iranian fans. and Queiroz is coaching Iran for almost 7 years and there is a VERY bad record about him, with him Iran never won a match after going one goal down ! his team is good as long as plan A works.

well they are investing A LOT on their league, maybe they get better in future but for now I don't think so. they showed improvement with Lippi though. they would be in playoff instead of Syria if they weren't for a last second penalty against Syria. but at least for now I don't consider them as a favorite to qualify for the next world cup.

hard to say, probably none of them, KSA is technically better than all of them but those teams are fighters unlike Saudi players, they give up easily, once they lost 8-0 to Germany, they lost 7-1 to Japan, or 5-0 to Japan. it happens sometimes for them, while with Syria you know they are going to fight no matter what, Australia was very lucky to eliminate Syria. no other Asian team has the experience to compete with the best of the worlds. but I would give that 5th spot to Uzbekistan or Iraq.

and guess what ? the mighty Australia let KSA qualify directly. and they needed extra time to score the winner against the 10-man Syria (who didn't have the chance to play 1st leg at home) to advance to the intercontinental playoff where they easily beat Honduras (from a very strong CONCACAF federation) btw of course KSA is the only AFC team that I don't support, they can buy and cheat their way in Asia but that doesn't work here.
