Bloemen is already 31 years old, so this was probably his only chance for an olympic gold, good way to retire. Gonna be interesting to see which dutch athlete Canada will naturalize next. There must be some other dutch athlete who would be willing to switch nationality for not being able to make the dutch team.

The Netherlands saw that Germany was about to win the medal table, so they sent Bloemen to Canada to help them stopping Germany.

Congrats to the italian guy, he probably can't believe it himself. Crazy day for them, nobody expected anything, but they won 2 medals already.

Happy for the vampire and the italian girl, very sad about Shiffrin winning a medal. Hirscher on the men's side and Shiffrin on the women's side, very boring, but not their fault. The two best athletes of the season not winning a medal is very sad, but they have only themselves to blame. I almost had the feeling as if Rebensburg didn't know that this was the olympics, she had absolutely no aggression. I hoped that Hrovat would win a medal, but she isn't ready for now. Bassino also seems to be stuck, not much of a progression recently.

I agree, at the last two olympics she came for gold with her former partner but only got bronze and after 2014 her partner retired everyone thought that she should retire as well, but she always had the dream of winning gold of the olympics, so she continued and they had to find a new partner for her. After yesterday's result everyone thought that they had no chance of winning gold and many said that "Bruno (her partner) destroyed her dream". What made the situation today especially tense is that her former partner is now coaching the russian pair that could have taken away the gold from her. First she couldn't win a gold with him as her partner and then he takes the gold from her away by coaching her rivals, would have been a crazy story. You could really see today how much pressure they put on themselves and now she can retire in peace. It will be interesting what he will do, he is still very young, but i think there is no chance that they will find a world-class partner for him in Germany ...

I think apart from the 2014 olympics, this score would have been enough for gold most of the times. Was there ever a competition, where this wouldn't have been enough for at least silver?

I think this will be bronze, russian and chinese are cold like ice, no way they will make a huge mistake.
