  1. Why? Hildebrand + Herrmann -> Gold for France, pretty obvious ...
  2. I noticed him at the junior world championships, i couldnt believe his winning margin. He must be an extraordinary talent i think not even Kristoffersen had such a huge margin at junior world championships.
  3. I think 32 medals are realistic: Bobsleigh, cross-country, curling, figure skating, 2 x ice hockey, 2 x shorttrack, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, speed skating I don't see more than 3 gold medals though, so for me it would be extremely surprising for Canada to win more golds than Germany. I think Germany wont win more than 30 medals, so Canada should be pretty safe there.
  4. I am not surprised that Nöckler choked. He is german speaking, as are almost all the italian athletes who underperformed here (Paris, Innerhofer, Fill, Hofer, Wierer). This cant be a coincidence, considering that so many german athletes underperformed here as well.
  5. Well, you can of course make assumptions, but then you shouldnt act as if its certain ... I asked how do you KNOW? Not why do you THINK ... Edit: Congrats for the brilliant reference to thailand transgender culture!
  6. I think medal of Goggia in superg, medal of man alpine skier would have surprise, also medal of team sprint, medal of luge relay. Not medal of Visintin, Wierer was surprise. Not medal of Fisch was 50/50. What does table tell? Italy only 11, but when i wrote they top 10, so better (now Japan gold in speed skating, so now Italy 11). Edit: Table also says Uzebkistan, Chile, Israel medal, so must be wrong.
  7. Why are you giving away your secret for free? This will mean that you wont have an advantage in the next prediction contests.
  8. 1) Many italian men have female names, basically their whole speed skating team (Francesca, Andrea, Nicola) 2) Just because the profile says that this person is female, it doesn't mean much. a) Maybe this person is just pretending to be female b) Maybe this person is transgender and identifies as female, but because there isn't the option "transgender", this person selected the option "female". 3) Having a cartoon character as your avatar also doesn't say much, could just be a random male nerd.
  9. How many more (gold) medal chances do you have?
  10. 1) How do you know its a she? 2) What do you mean by "sites of bet"?
  11. + Grubauer, Greiss and Holzer.
  12. They might be a better team than Germany without its 7 best players, but not by a mile. Its a surprise for sure, but not a miracle.
  13. Normally yes, but Sweden is missing all its best players, they even have a kid on their roster ... I doubt that any of the guys here are among the 30 or 40 best swedish players.
  14. They are missing all their best players. Would any of the guys who played today even make their best roster? Like i said before the start of the tournament: This event is senseless and has no meaning, results would be completely different if every nation would play with its best players.
  15. Wut? Why are people acting as if this was a huge sensation?
  16. Who did consider it a safe gold? Did you miss the world cup? If Drazek wouldn't have torn her ligaments, Canada wouldn't have won a medal at all, so i guess you should rather be happy today about this surprising medal. Edit: Of course also about the surprising gold in men's ski cross. Only the curling results have been a bit weak today for Germany.
  17. Surprising result and nice to see her being so strong after what the german coaches did to her. Also at least a bit of redemption after what happened in men's 2-man.
  18. Thanks for that very thoughtful response! I agree about Goggia and i don't think i said something different. Her and Vonn had to be considered the favorites for sure. I don't agree about Fontana though, i would like to know why you considered her one of the 2 clear favorites, although she didn't win a single world cup this season and she is only 3rd in the 500 m world cup and 10th in both the 1000 m and 1500 m world cup. I don't follow shorttrack really religiously, but according to the world cup results i think that Boutin and Choi Min-jeong were the clear favorites, they won 8 out of 12 world cups. I would also be interested to know why you based your opinion concerning Moioli on the world cup results but not your opinion about Fontana? You are probably right about Moioli, although i still think you were exaggerating a bit, it sounded as if she was the biggest favorite at the whole olympic games and could only lose gold if she completely messed up.
  19. Then what exactly did you want to do with "It' s impossible to talk with you, you are Always wrong, i don't know if you are a Young boyor simply you don' t follow sports ..."? I agree that we have different ways of viewing results, but why didn't you just say that from the beginning? For both of us "surprise" seems to mean something very different, but that's ok. Before you discuss about something, you should always be clear that all people involve use the same definition, otherwise misunderstandings like that happen. It is nice that you admitted that you were wrong, hopefully we can lead many more good discussions in the future.
  20. No, Jamaika will win silver, about 0.06-0.20 behind gold.
  21. With De Fabiani Italy would have won a medal, that is safe. Great future for Italy, only two good talents, but they can win many medals in the future. If Klaebo disappears, Pellegrino could dominate.
  22. Yeah, Peiffer having to do a penalty lap in the relay was expected, it happens all the time.
  23. Ok, thanks i am very surprised then. I am ok with the expected medals overall, but the number of expected golds really surprises me. For me there were 4 gold medal chances for Italy at best, so expecting 3 golds didn't seem very realistic to me. Gracenote expected 1 gold and 6 medals in total for Italy, USA Today expected 1 gold and 11 medals in total.
  24. Yeah, i would say something that is not expected (let's say more than 50% probability) but still happens is a surprise ... Then by your defintion, what exactly would have been a surprise in women's giant slalom? The gold for Peiffer of course is a surprise, but not that he medalled, he was sprint world champion before, what about Windisch, what did he win so far?
