  1. Are we sure that Kripps will continue until 2022?
  2. What result did you want? I think Lochner was very unlucky, he is an amazing guy and he didnt deserve the "hatred" by one of his team members ... He was so dominant all season long just to be completely chanceless here. It must have been the material. He said he spent tons of hours with analyzing his runs and tried all possible lines on this track in training and the race itself, but never got close to the speed he needed to compete for a medal. The good thing is that all german pilots are still young enough to compete in 4 years. A bit sad that Kuske will retire, but at least he will do it as most successful bob athlete ever.
  3. Good to hear, i bet 10 points on it. It has to be said that this was a very good question, it could have easily been the other way round, if Burmansson or South Korea in mens team pursuit for example would have won the gold. When i bet 10 points, i absolutely didnt think about the korean girl in shorttrack relay or Redmond Gerard, so i guess i got lucky.
  4. A german coach will win the gold medal either way, so no chance for Norway in the medal table ...
  5. What is going on? Why was my previous comment deleted? There was also a under 18 gold medallist in shorttrack (Lee Yu-bin), but whatever ... In mens ice hockey and womens curling there wont be any under 18 year olds in the final.
  6. Chloe Kim, Lee Yu-bin (shorttrack) I think in curling and ice hockey gold medal match we wont have any under 18 athletes, not sure about cross-country and bob.
  7. I would have no problem with Canada winning bronze in mens 4-man, but i doubt that it would mean Germany losing it. Walther is on the rise and i cant see him not overtaking the korean guy tomorrow. About the hockey tips: No thanks, this canadian team for sure doesnt know how to beat Russia, after the disgusting behavior of Canada in the semifinal Germany for sure doesnt want or need any help from them and most importantly as good as those tips might be, Germany will still lose 0:3 to 0:6.
  8. German commentators said that even if you win all sprints, you cant get more points than the eventual 3rd place finisher, so what exactly is the point of those sprints? Won't the first 3 at the finish always be the top 3?
  9. Germany probably missing the "medals in 10 different sports" record by one sport. A medal in alpine skiing, cross-country, freestlyle skiing or speed skating would have helped ... Surprisingly two of the top 3 in medal table didnt win a single medal in alpine skiing or cross-country. If Norway doesnt win gold in speed skating today, it will come down to one event on the last day whether Norway will win the medal table or not. They would need to win gold in cross-country tomorrow.
  10. I also didnt expect a medal in mens slalom for Switzerland (of course the "absence" of Hirscher, Kristoffersen and Neureuther helped), but its not that surprising in the other events. Gut and Feuz in the downhill could have done better. I expected Shiffrin to win gold in the combined, but after seeing the so-called slalom, i wasnt surprised to see Gisin winning it. Medals in freestlye skiing were pretty surprising for Switzerland though ...
  11. What would be the alternative concerning alternates? Lets say one country uses both alternates and the other country uses no alternate, then one country would get 6 medals and the other would get 4, would be a bit inconsistent for me. This leaves only one option left, handing out medals to everyone. In my opinion the rule should be that you can only use alternates if someone gets injured.
  12. Overall very disappointing results in alpine skiing, of course the absence of Luitz and Neureuther didnt help. On the mens side i am quite optimistic. Dreßen, Schmid, Luitz and Strasser should form a good team in 4 years, but on the womens side ... it looks really bad.
  13. Congrats, another sensational day for Switzerland. Switzerland doing much better than expected here, especially in alpine skiing?
  14. So why dont you answer to what i wrote about Serwa, ice dancing or Bloemen? I dont think that the top two favorites in big air were canadian. Before the start of the final? Yes. Before the start of the games? No, not to me, my favorite was Kleveland. Kripps won the 2-man world cup, wouldnt say he was the best pilot just because of that. In my personal opinion he wasnt the best pilot, i always thought that Friedrich would (easily) win gold here, which would have been the case, if he wouldnt have messed up the first 2 heats. Kripps won the world cup, so objectively he was probably the favorite, thats true.
  15. Kosir is in the back? If yes, very hard to explain. I know what most people will think, but i dont think that the korean hosts could just manipulate official timing.
  16. 1) Do canadians really care about womens ice hockey or is it more like in Germany with womens football? Millions watch it, because its football after all, but noone really cares about the results in the end? 2) Did canadians really care about the results of mens ice hockey here? I always wondered: Does an average canadian even know those players who played here or are those guys completely unknow in Canada? 3) Not surprised about the canadian enthusiasm about curling, considering that (according to german commentator) there are more active curlers in canada than in the rest of the world combined, probably a bit like luge in germany, although almost noone in germany really likes luge, most people only watch it because germany is good in it.
  17. Good result for everyone who predicted that Czech Republic would win at least 1 gold in snowboarding. I would have preferred a different outcome, but Ledecka is just too far ahead. Only logical result, although she already had a gold and could have let someone else have this one ... From a german perspective and a "it would only be in favor of the excitment in this event, because her dominance is just too big" viewpoint i would like to see her fully concentrating on some other sport in 2022.
  18. Really? Not like Naeslund was the huge favorite here. The french girl in ice dance almost losing her dress certainly wasnt the reason for canada winning the gold there? Toutant winning gold today also wasnt surprising, as well as Ted-Jan Bloemen winning 10 000 m gold? Bloeman of course was a top 3 favorite, but given his results at major championships i dont think that it was expected that he would keep his cool this time. For me Kripps winning gold was also surprising. I know that he won the world cup, so i get that most people will say that this gold was expected ... but i dont agree.
  19. Looks like easy gold for Germany. Walther did much better in the second run and should take silver, just sad that it wont be a sweep, Lochner is having horrible olympics.
  20. Crazy olympics for Canada indeed. Same result in mens curling, mens cross-country skiing, speed skating womens team pursuit, short track mens 500 m, short track mens 1500 m and mens ice hockey
  21. This race showed that the fight against doping is clearly working. 4 years ago Russia swept the medals in this event, now they only won silver and bronze.
  22. Yes, if Canada would have won all events here, they probably would have won the medal table. In the end canadians will be very happy with their results here, i doubt that anyone in Canada will be sad about this 3rd place. If Germany and/or Norway would have won some of their expected golds, this never would have gotten that close. Canada won enough surprising golds to make it almost close though and that should be really appreciated.
  23. I cant blame any member of the german team. In theory they should have been much stronger with Neureuther/Luitz, but that didnt work out in the past. Germany might very well be the nation that got closest to eliminating Switzerland.
  24. I dont think that womens 4-man should become olympic. I would prefer if they would get rid of mens 4-man and introduce men and womens monobob, really enjoyed watching that event at the youth olympics.
  25. 4 golds for Sweden in biathlon and alpine skiing ... one of the biggest overperformances in olympic history for sure. The fact that they train under very windy conditions in Östersund surely helped today, in the end they won it at the shooting range. Sad that both races were heavily influenced by the conditions, thats not what you would hope for athletes who trained very hard for 4 years. Anyway ... Pichler seems to be doing a lot of good things over there, considering where swedish biathlon was only a couple of years ago. I think with the retirement of Gerald Hönig, it would be the perfect time to bring Pichler home, Germany really needs him.
