Great competition in the second half!
 
That's it for me today, sadly I can't quite watch today the jumping opener starting at 2:00 AM Central European Time. But I'll make sure I'll watch other rounds live.
 
Analysis of the second half.
 
Perry-Glass & Dublet - Very clean, but not always spectacular. She finishes 7th with 73%
Peters & Rosamunde - Few spectacular moments and many, many mistakes. He is in 8th place with 72%
Reynolds & Vancouver - They just never stop improving. 5th place! Who knows, podium on Saturday is not impossible!
Oatley & Du Soleil - Very expressive trot. One of their best performances of the season. She finishes 10th with 71%.
Williamson & Dejavu - Another sad story... Dejavu appeared to be quite strong today so they made a lot of mistakes. Moreover, as soon as Wendi ended her performance and relaxed, Dejavu jumped. Commentators said something like: "I can't imagine how long these 6 minutes felt to Wendi. She had to work incredibly hard to keep him calm..." Anyway, they initially got 63%, but then got eliminated so they also won't compete in freestyle...
Merkulova & Mister X - Not their best, but okay. They finish 9th.
Graves & Verdades - All superlatives. 2nd place with 79%
Werth & Weihegold - One bigger mistake, but mostly amazing. Winner with 82%
 
It's interesting to see first two horses being completely differently built. Weihegold is very small, like some tiny dancer. Verdades is on the other hand like a powerful gymnast. Thumbs up for great commentating from John Kyle and Canadian rider Karen Pavicic today.

The Danish jury has just left the conference room. After 3 tough weeks of discussion they have agreed.
Jury leader, Agger is very satisfied with the voting, though it was tough agreeing in the jury.
"It has been a tedious proces to get to a result. Though we're a small jury, we never really managed to agree. But I think we've found the best possible compromise. It has been a pleasure listening to all the songs, and I'm really looking forward to the show," he said to the press as he left the room.
 
Shortly after, one of the other members, Mattias, who we still don't know for sure is another person, left the room shouting that it had been a terrible voting and that he would never again help the Danish delegation. Some of you may remember him as the one stating that Denmark would never participate again.
 
Is it the same person? are they identical twins? Or is this just a terrible news story? 
Maybe we'll never know. What we know, is that we're looking forward to the contest!

Legendary Brazilian rider Rodrigo Pessoa has been named the new Chef d'Eauipe of Irish Showjumping. Really excited to see what he can bring to the table. Hopefully he can finally bring some consistency from the Irish team who have been underperforming hugely for over a decade. Robert Splaine held that position for far too long in my opinion without merit. Hopefully progress will follow

I can explain why I take time to vote during a longer period of time.
 
Firstly, it is proven that you need to listen to a song more than 2,3 times to fully experience the effect of it and to realise its full potential.
Secondly, I make 3-4 day breaks after every consecutive re-listening in order to see how time changes my perception of a song.
Also, ranking your selected songs on different days help you achieve more well-rounded results, because there are always mood swings (after that you can averagely see which songs constantly do well and which tend to jump around in your rankings)
Then, after you have your twelve, there's another ranking required, because your brain gets accustomed to the order in which the songs are played, so you mix them up to see how they rank once the listening order is not specific
Final listen to the top 12 to see that you are certainly happy with your decisions and you don't need to regret your votes after 2 days of sending them.
 
Long story short, if your song got points from me, it travelled a long and tough road through my selection process
 
At the moment I am down to 12, but I'm having trouble shaking off 13th and 14th places as they deserve the points as well.
