There are also the politics of it. All Olympic sports are meant to be multi-continental. So somehow no matter what the rules are, there will always be places at the Winter Olympics if there are is one remotely credible South American, African or Caribbean team.

Have only just realised that the Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne suffers from the Driedaagse De Panne syndrome, in that it is in reality the Kuurne-Kortrijk-Kuurne. Five man front group refuse to help van der Poel, get caught by a group of about 20. And Mads Pedersen benefits with the sprint win.

The problem is that even if the organisations are honest & committed to reform, which many are, then their national legal systems & international organisations like the Court of Arbitration for Sport just do not back them up. Few governing bodies can afford an extended legal battle. The powerful & rich IOC should do more, but they are corrupt and/or short-sightef.

Think this event needs to be rethought. It’s OK on the circuit where you have Finland II, Russia III etc who defer to their senior team & nobody outside the top 5 much cares, but once every four years when you have huge fields with everyone competing to the max, it’s a disaster like short-track.

Well, they have a Thai surname, so presumably a father. I am sure Bendika is not a personal stunt, a la Bjoerndalen or Berger, bur definitely an attempt to boost national rankings.
