  1. Only way to overtake Athens 2004's parade of nations is to have Daft Punk DJ Paris'.
  2. Didn't realize until reading the team Canada article today that Daniel Gu is the son of Luan Jujie. That's really cool! I remember seeing a story about Daniel going to the Beijing Olympics as a spectator and being really surprised at how famous his mom was in China. Neat that he's going to go to the Olympics himself as well.
  3. The Kennedys are well known for rolling nat 1s pretty regularly. Unrelated, I have been to both the spot where Oswald stood and where Kennedy was shot, since I used to live in Dallas. The assassination permanently fucked up trafic in Dallas, because Kennedy got killed right before one of the worst on-ramp in the entire metro area, which now can't be replaced or altered since it's where a president got shot and is thus a somewhat important historical site. I always hated driving in that area.
  4. Maybe the only genuine bit of comedy to come out of this - the assassin attempted to join his high school rifle shooting team but was rejected for being a terrible shot.
  5. I'll be using Peacock for all my IOC streaming needs (since I live in the states), but I'll certainly be tuning into the CBC stream when I expect Canadians to do well (yay VPNs) :3
  6. I hope CONEMBOL won't organize this tournament anymore xD The organizers of this tournament are completely different from the organizers of the 2026 World Cup. There is no reasons to be concerned this will happen again, this simply a case of CONMEBOL being incompetent.
  7. The whole format in singles with 13 groups is just really weird in general.
  8. Unfortunetly this confirms that rowing will be 1500m in LA.
  9. https://x.com/iocmedia/status/1811720478697881848
  10. I assume so, we know about the change because the women’s US coach discussed it (and the French coach confirmed it).
  11. Pretty big update on substitutions: unlike tournaments prior to Tokyo, substitute athletes are allowed to be substituted in and out of the roster on a match per match basis. Which means that even if there is a minor injury or illness a player from the main roster can be substituted for one match then returned. Any player that is on the roster for any match is eligible for a medal. Previously if a player was replaced by a substitute they could not come back for the entire tournament. ...honestly at this point they might as well count the traveling alternates as part of the roster, like they started doing for ice hockey.
  12. It's been the case since Tokyo (you can go check the result vs the quotas from there).
  13. and NOCs competing hard for title of worst NOC, looks like is winning it this time.
  14. Genuinely what does that even mean?
  15. Kind of crazy all the drama around athletes given how few of them there will be in the end.
  16. Baseball is indeed the most popular sport in Puerto Rico.
  17. should worry a little bit, we all remember what happened the last time was at the Olympics, and in the same group as the USA.
  18. Oh these past two years definitively felt like a decade for me xD
  19. Good think it's going to be a coalition government then :P
  20. Like this feels like a pretty good result for Macron. The RN was polling first, they finished third.
