  1. Matt Gaetz as attorney general is definitively... a choice.
  2. Can't think of anything more efficient than creating a department on government efficiency and nominating not one but two people to lead it. This has really strong "giving the two most annoying people you know busywork" energy
  3. It's not just some dog, Babydog is an icon of West Virginian politics!
  4. More concerning anti-dog discrimination: Babygirl (R-WV) has been banned from the Senate. https://www.axios.com/2024/11/12/babydog-jim-justice-senate-floor
  5. Kristi Noem has been nominated as Secretary of Homeland Security. As someone who pretends to be a dog on the Internet I am scared.
  6. I'm originally from Eastern Canada, and before moving to Washington I lived seven years in Texas. I do not have any explaination for Pornhub search popularities. I'm not vanilla enough to be "with it", so to speak. If anything I'm a bit surprised to see Transgender be this relatively high in Washington, normally on that kind of map you see it more in the South where it's more "transgressive". In Western Washington, anyway, being trans or otherwise gender noncomforming isn't something that people generally make a big deal out of.
  7. Unrelated, but I don't feel all that bad about the extend to which I predicted this election wrong. It turns out I live and vote in the only state that went more for Harris than for Biden. So I did, in fact, have a pretty good pulse on the public opinion in my state. It's just that Washington state was moving one way and the rest of the country was moving the opposite direction.
  8. This reminds me that I've actually not heard anything from Rachelle Maddow since she made a podcast series about Spiro Agnew last year. I've actualy not even heard what her take on the election is. Millenial and Gen Z liberals are pretty disconnected from what goes on on cable news tbh. Of all the mainstream media figures John Oliver probably has the best pulse on what the left of center Millenials think and feel, based on my experience with a *lot* of left leaning Millenials (I don't know all that many Gen Zers persoanlly so less comfortable commenting on them).
  9. I do not. I have no clue what part of the left you're looking at right now, but as someone who leans left I don't recognize anybody I know in what you're saying. People are very much in wound licking and internal recrimination mode, there is no apetite to fight at the moment, and there likely won't until Trump oversteps on something (which every president inevitably does). The mood on the left is very, very different than it was in 2016 and for some reason it doesn't seem like the right is picking up on it at all. There is genuinely not a lot of crying is goign on this time, sorry to dissapoint. You can obviously find it if you want, bit country and whatnot, but if you're trying to get a pulse on how people on the left are feeling chasing the few people who are crying isn't going to help you.
  10. Have you considered that you might not be getting a very representative view of what's going on from those accounts? I spend more time that is healthy on TikTok and I've seen zero election denialism (either from the right or the left)
  11. We can nutpick too And TikTok very much shows you what keeps you engaged, if you're seeing election denial videos on it... well it says a lot about the kind of content you like to watch.
  12. It’s always kind of fascinating to me the extend to which MAGAs hate around half of the country. Not that this current doesn’t also exist on the left, but ya know, just seems like an odd posture to take for someone who claims to be a patriot. Unfortunatly I don’t have any tears to donate because I’ve never cried over politics, the only times I’ve cried as an adult were when my dad died and when I was divorcing my ex. The extend to which I don’t cry is actually a bit unhealthy and I’m working on it! Anyway, Stitch is super queer and neurodivergent coded, and he’s an illegal alien living in a deep blue state, so he probably voted for Harris. He can give you some tears on my behalf.
  13. I think this is the least good of the games since… either Salt Lake or Turin. I still like it, we don’t really get bad looks of the game anymore. Pictograms are solidly okay imo.
  14. Given Trump wants a law saying that only gender assigned at birth should be recognized, I wonder how such a law (along with any laws "protecting women’s sports") would affect athletes with DSDs. Because it would make it illegal to consider athletes like Caster Semenya or Imane Khelif as anything other than female, since that’s their gender assigned at birth and that’s apparently immutable. There is an interesting tension there.
  15. From a quick look it appears that all the players in the Filipino men's and women's teams are all based in Switzerland and are Swiss-Filipino dual citizens.
  16. Elissa Slotkin winning the Michigan senate seat is definitively something that will confound some naratives. Hard to imagine that the Muslim and Pro Palestinian protest vote had that much of a real impact if Harris lost Michigan while a Jewish and very pro-Israel Democrat won the open senate seat in the state with the highest Muslim population nation.
  17. This is a criticism you can make of Clinton, but not really of Harris.
  18. Then why did so many pro-Palestine folks in the US ask people to sit out? (But yes, this is looking quite bad for Palestine and Ukraine )
  19. She did, but Trump got much, much closer than anybody expected.
  20. If you want to see crazy election results look at what is happening in Illinois or Virginia. Crazy big shifts from 2020.
  21. Also, I should make it very clear that I am, in fact, an American citizen.
  22. People will really take a sentence you write online and make up a completely new sentence that has no relation to it to reply to. What the heck makes you think I was talking about illegal aliens? Preferably without building a strawman.
  23. Too bad he hates so many Americans
  24. Well, given the closing ads Trump made it pretty clear that his vision of America has no room for the "them/thems" so... might very seriously look at moving 200 miles North. Unfortunate that my fellow citizens hate people who aren't gender conforming. (Perk of having two passports I guess)
