  1. Even better - while Soccer has been used in a bunch of English speaking countries (even though it is slowly losing out to Football), Canada is, as far as I know, the only country where French speakers primarely refer to Association Football as Soccer.
  2. Pierce LePage got a medical exemption from having to compete at trials. This is quite concerning.
  3. 19 teams in the team event is pretty wild
  4. The US already had spare relay-only spots on women‘s side even before this. Based on their internal selection criteria I don’t think they will use them.
  5. ItG was never that good but it somehow went far downhill over the past couple years.
  6. I feel very comfortable with Russia being banned because to me they were already “on probation” as far as sporting participation was concerned. I also think that a war of conquest is fundamentally different from, say, any recent American invasion. I don’t have a strong opinion on banning or not banning Israel, though if the UN determines Israel is committing a genocide then I don’t think there will he a choice but to ban them from International sports. I feel bad for certain Russian / Belorussian athletes for missing out but not others.
  7. Ya, I agree. There are so many legendary winter sport venues in Switzerland, the potential is there for it to be one of the all time great Winter Olympics.
  8. Oh ya, the Stockholm bid was far from perfect, but it was a complete bid. As opposed to being picked first and developing a bid second. I will also admit to being frustrated that the Alps will host three of the next four Winter Olympics, that seems truly excessive. Other mountain ranges exist.
  9. They had a perfectly good bid in Stockholm. What a joke this new bidding process is. I think this will be the worst Winter Games (giving Beijing a bit of a pass here because of COVID) since… the last time France hosted xD
  10. It's logistics. They are moving swimming to the opening ceremony venue, so they can't have it ready to host competition the next day.
  11. 38,000 seats for swimming is going to be insane! Other hugely important change - athletics will be in the first week and swimming will be in the second week. This is to acomodate the swimming venue also being used for the opening ceremony.
  12. This is the most relatable an Olympian will ever be. Hopefully she fully recovers quickly, but that sucks.
  13. Definitively seems like he's rounding into form at the right time.
  14. Lol even Russia is following Agenda 2020, including urban, youth and gender equal sports like breaking This is also how I learn that we have an Abkhazia flag on the forum
  15. I get that, but AFAIK the rules around having to maintain neutrality only applies for athletes that want neutral status, not for Russian citizens who also have other citizenships and who are competing for those countries. Maybe I'm wrong but I haven't seen anything indicating that.
  16. Oh! Misunderstood your post, that makes a lot more sense xD
  17. So Santo Condorelli has been ruled ineligible to compete in the US Olympic Trials because his last time competing for Italy is too recent, and his appeal on the matter has been rejected. Can’t say I feel bad for him. https://swimswam.com/santo-condorelli-eligibility-appeal-rejected-no-entry-at-u-s-olympic-trials/
  18. In order to prepare for... LA 2028? What kind of crazy injuries are going to take four years to heal? There is nothing more important than an Olympic participation to heal injuries for.
  19. ...I will literally bet you all the money I have and all the money I can borrow that this won't happen. And certainly not before the Olympics xD
  20. ...you do know that the French legislature is pretty darn weak, right?
  21. Why would she be excluded? I don't believe there is any mechanism for the IOC to deny participation of an athlete with a or passport that is competing for another country (short of denying the change of sporting citizenship, obv)
  22. Congrats! I'm glad qualification, in the end, came down to a head to head match.
