  1. From a fairness standpoint I think it would be ideal if that's the case.
  2. Zero(!) male rowers in Paris. Hard to believe. Hopefully some heads will roll at Rowing Canada
  3. Oh, that's not too bad. I had almsot a mini heart attack when I read that there would be a change of format. I figured they would replace the cross country with ninja wariors or whatever. I'm not sure that I love this change, but I do think awarding the team and individual medals on different days is a good idea.
  4. In rowing there are only two host quotas, one in each of the single scull events, and only if the host nation has no rowing quota for that gender.
  5. Someone on SwimSwam pointed out that the final of the men's 200m IM is on the same day as the heats of the mixed medley relay, so Apollo Hess was likely picked so they can rest Finlay Know that morning. There is precedent for Swimming Canada picking someone specifically for the mixed medley relay, that was Javier Acevedo's only swim in Tokyo.
  6. has announced their Swimming team (includes both pool and open water swimmers) Men: Tristan Jankovics Alexander Axon Blake Tierney Finlay Knox Jeremy Bagshaw Josh Liendo Apollo Hess Lorne Wigginton Javier Acevedo Yuri Kisil Patrick Hussey Illya Kharun Women: Kylie Masse Emma O’Croinin Sophie Angus Ella Jansen Penny Oleksiak Rebecca Smith Ingrid Wilm Brooklyn Douthwright Regan Rathwell Julie Brousseau Kelsey Wog Sydney Pickrem Maggie MacNeil Emma Finlin Taylor Ruck Mary-Sophie Harvey Summer McIntosh

  8. Swimmers of the meet award winners: Josh Liendo (M) and Summer McIntosh (W)
  9. Definitively no standards will be hit in the men's 1500m free, but at least it's an entertaining race.
  10. Mongolia also really hurt themselves by making a really ill-advised foul on a two-point shot (that Poland made) late in the game, which ended up being a four point play, which is obviously huge in 3x3. That turned out to be a game-losing mistake imo.
  11. Yes, though TBH the sample size is just so small it's hard to read much into it. They lost two close games to two very good teams. It's 3x3, there is a lot of variance. I've not seen anything that makes me doubt this team is a serious medal contender.
  12. Nice to hear Marianne Limpert on the commentary. One of the few Olympian I've meet in person (also once randomly meet a Artistic Swimming Olympian when I worked as a lifeguard)
  13. Has there ever been a Canadian trials with this many world leading times?
  14. Can anyone think of any team that has ever found a more painful to fail to qualify than this team?
  15. I think the team is doing just fine tbh
  16. Buddy Canada (or the US, dual citizen so gonna cover all my based) isn’t eligible for tripartite invites either. You are aware of how that works right?
  17. Not sure what that has to do with shooting? Anyway Algeria isn't even close to being eligible for tripartite spots.
