  1. Buddy Canada (or the US, dual citizen so gonna cover all my based) isn’t eligible for tripartite invites either. You are aware of how that works right?
  2. Not sure what that has to do with shooting? Anyway Algeria isn't even close to being eligible for tripartite spots.
  3. The is up 1.38 point so far for the week-end (after two matched), compared to Canada being up 21.26 points (after three matches). Currently has 289.31 points and has 286.92 points. Winning against lower ranked teams or losing agaisnt higher ranked team doesn't affect the ranking much, but beating two higher ranked teams (like Canada just did) is huge. If beats and beats then I think Canada will overtake the Netherlands for now.
  4. Canada will have at most ten relay-only athletes accross categories 2 and 3, which means their qualifications are now all guaranteed. The Canadian coaching staff will probably be able to name up to three relay alternates if they wish to (since Knox is almost certain go qualify individually). If I were the coaches I would want to bring Édouard Fullum-Huot (men's 4x100m free) with Rebecca Smith (women's 4x100m free) on the bubble for consideration, but I'm not really seeing a good case for anybody else, especially since 5th and 6th in the women's 200m free are already on the team.
  5. @JoshMartini007 really small nitpick: the winners of the 100m freestyle aren't included under priority 3 (since they are automatically counted under priority 2)
  6. Blake Tierney with a huge PB and NR to also qualify in the 200m back!
  7. This has to be the first Olympic swimmer since Marianne Limpert?
  8. The standards aren't picked by someone, it's either the standard from the previous Olympics or the 14th ranked time in the heats at the previous Olympics, whichever is faster.
  9. This obviously only happened because established normalized relationships with and called for to be kicked out of the Olympics
  10. Only day three (with the 4x100m to go) and Canada is only one male swimmer from matching the team size from Tokyo.
  11. Two really good news stories from this race: Masse is back to being a medal contender, and Ruck seems to be back in form (which is a good sign for the 100m free)
  12. As the commentators mentioned, Jeremy Bagshaw is definitively a big sentimental favourite here after narrowly missing the last two Olympics. Good for him.
  13. I don't get the impression the men's 4x200m will be a priority, the 4x100 free and the medley relay will likely get more attention (the free because it can realistically make the final, the medley relay since it's on the last day and people usually really like competing it). The 4x200m is the only realistic way for a lot of the male swimmers to make the team so I can def see why Knox and Liendo, who will both have a decent number of swims, are happy to leave those spots to someone else.
  14. Nice, this really opens the door for a couple of their teamates to make the team!
  15. Which tbf is already an improvement than it was before. Now if you are in the top 2 at trials and you've reached the OQT at any point in the qualification window your qualification is automatic (though it puts you at fifth priority rather than first priority, but that only matters if Canada somehow is over the allowable per country quota which seems... unlikely to ever happen). But swimmers do need to finish in the top 2 in trials. Does create an interesting situation where anyone who finished top 2 in trials but doesn't have the time can try to achieve it until June 23rd. Also, the qualification document from Swimming Canada is quite clear that priority 5 swimmers *shall* be nominated, not *may* be nominated. The full document, in case anyone else is interested in reading it: https://www.swimming.ca/content/uploads/2023/05/2024-Olympic-Games-Pool-Swimming-final-April-21-20231.pdf Also looks like swimming Canada is intending to accept OCT invitations for trial winners.
  16. Unless someone emerges in the next two years (which is very possible) goaltending will be Canada's biggest (only?) weakness in 2026.
