    is all but qualified for the QF, but they've really not been impressive so far. They will be glad to have some time to re-group.

    True :P Personally I don't think having been a flagbearer at the Commonwealth or Pan-am games should preclude you from being a flagbearer at the Olympics. It's a very different beast.

    For me opening ceremony flag bearers should be veterans that have contributed a lot to their sport. By that metric I'm fairly happy with the choices, even though neither were my first choice.

    The - match really wasn't a great way to start the Olympics. Hopefully lessons are learned re: crowd control.

    I thought 2m was the minimum? It's just very rare to not have 3m depth nowawady since deeper pools help with times.

    I really like the look of the Stade de France, so far I’m liking the lavender version of the look a lot more than the blue version.

    First time since I’ve started following the summer Olympics super closely that Canada isn’t starting on day -2. Feels weird.

    Breaking is fun! Maybe shouldn’t be in the Olympics but calling it boring is a bit odd to me.

    Charlote Dujardin is out of the Olympics after the Dutch team (or at least someone from the Dutch dressage community, not 100% clear who it was) unearthed a video of her abusing a horse four years ago.

    I do think this is a pretty uninspiring "look of the games". I would have to go back to Athens for one that feels less interesting, but Athens was pretty cutting edge for the time. It's not bad by any means, though.

    Interesting how the Dutch have such a problem with an animal abuser taking part in the Olympics. I wonder what that says about how much they value children.

    Not an injury, but Charlote Dujardin will miss the Olympics due to an "error in judgement" that is being investigated by the FEI. No details are available, but it sure sounds like animal abuse allegations.

    Pistol and riffle shooting really doesn’t get much if any attention in North America. Ginny Trasher got a few minutes on NBC when she won the very first gold medal in 2016, and that was exceptional.

    Almost certainly. The delegates who are going to make the decision are overwhelmingly Biden loyalists.
