    beat 3-2 (no dead rubbers) in the Davis Cup Qualifier first round, with two wins from Liam Draxl and a win from Gabriel Diallo. This means that in September will play for a spot in the 2026 Davis Cup quarterfinals.

    Brett Gallant on the other hand... has had a rough couple days.

    What I find so frustrating is that I don't even know what (Curling Canada here, not this specific team) could have done better. They had the trials early, sent them to worlds, gave them plenty of time to prepare, and it's hard to imagine a pairing for Canada that is, on paper, much better. So is this a problem with how this team prepared, just bad luck? Unsure what lessons Curling Canada can take from this.

    Maltais now has a full set of medal in her career (gold in the team pursuit, silver in the short track 3000m relay, bronze in the 3000m), and a first individual medal.

    Why is Olympic speed skating so much better than the World Cup or worlds? The only thing that really compares is the last day of a world all-round (and even then, only if its close).

    So happy for Lollobrigida, she really deserves an Olympic gold medal on her resume. Very happy Maltais gets her first career individual Olympic medal as well, she's had a great career too. About as good a result as you could hope from her here.

    Eh not really, he's a half-pipe specialist. He's only here as a replacement for Mark McMorris (as the highest ranked big air athlete who is qualified in the half-pipe).
