  1. If things could not get any worse: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/canadians-face-norwalk-outbreak-injuries-at-world-championships/article35890265/
  2. She is Belgian, born to one Belgian parent.
  3. All 3 Canadian women in the 400m flopped Clearly changing the coach (Peter Erickson) was not the right choice.
  4. That is 4 medals from Rio gone right there... :'(
  5. 2021 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival will be held in Kosice, Slovakia @hckosice
  6. Just an fyi, Canada will not compete in the women's 4x100 relay. And no Canada in the women's 4x400 relay (4th place in Rio) and no Canadians in the 20km walk for men (defending bronze)?
  7. There are so many boring sports on the Summer Olympic program (like soccer) that it wasn't too hard to pick. Swimming/Athletics/Basketball/Beach volleyball/Rugby (I picked baseball by accident lol, though that isn't too bad itself).
  8. I am only going to comment on moments from 2002 onward (ie the Olympics I have seen live). Best 1) Vancouver Men's gold medal hockey match - you cannot write a better moment 2) Penny Olekisak's 4 medals, breaking the record for most medals by a Canadian at a Summer Olympics. 3) Women's soccer team wins bronze in London. Worst 1) Perdita Felicien falls in the 2004 Olympic final (women's 100m hurdles). This one was so crushing, as she was the defending world champion. 2) Norwegian referee robbing Canada's women's soccer team from advancing to gold medal game in London. 3) Jeremy Wotherspoon falls at the 2002 Olympics (speed skating)
  9. After 8 medals in 2015 I predict 1 for Canada this year (Warner).
  10. CBC News Alerts‏Verified account @CBCAlerts 4m4 minutes ago More Andre De Grasse suffered an injury on Monday. He's being pulled from the World Championships in London, coach tells CBC.
  11. Lacrosse is the only one that meets the criteria of those sports. However, with baseball/softball being added it would be difficult.
  12. I just realized the alpine skiing qualification system effectively screws the smaller nations which qualify more than 2 athletes per games. For ex. Argentina, Chile, Australia among others are now limited at 2 per nation. This is definitely the way to grow the sport FIS
  13. Her bg is a cool story: http://www.midi-madagasikara.mg/sports/2017/06/02/jeux-olympiques-de-coree-la-belle-histoire-de-mialitiana-clerc-20e-francaise-en-ski/ She was actually born in Madagascar and was adopted at a young age to live in France.
  14. Canada won bronze at the FIBA Women's U-19 World Cup in Italy This follows the men winning the gold in Egypt. The future of Canadian basketball is bright
  15. Wow if Sweden finds a good backstroker in the women's events, they could challenge for gold.
  16. The Canada Games (where all 13 provinces/territories are the competing teams) began in Winnipeg yesterday.
  17. Actually its England and Australia who run away with Canada usually a distant third. However its not like those 3 dominate everything. The second tier nations like New Zealand (mind you putting them as second tier is very awkward for me, but in these game they are) Jamaica, South Africa, Kenya and India among others do well.
