Forgot to mention the other two medalists (oops)

Ana Laura Portuondo Isasi won a very surprising silver in women’s +78kg (hadn’t heard of her before today), and John Jr Messe A Bessong won bronze in men’s +100kg. Deschenes (+100kg) and Krieber Gagnon (-90kg) both finished off the podium.

Isasi I believe was suspended for doping until recently (or was injured) can't remember. She is a former Commonwealth Games medalist. Unfortunately it's a little too late for her. Isasi's qualification would also guarantee Canada spot in the team event.

Hypothetically speaking, let’s say that Dong is out for Paris. Would Yakura get to select a new doubles partner, or would Lindeman/Lee instead go to Paris? (they’re in a qualifying position, but missed out due to the one doubles team per NOC rule)

    The latter

  3. So regarding the selection criteria in fencing:

If a team qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as per the guidelines of the FIE Olympic Qualification System, the three fencers who have earned the highest number of HPP ranking points (best 7 of 9 results by HPP ranking points, with a minimum of 4 senior world cups being counted) at FIE Senior World Cups, Senior World Championships, and Grand Prix competition between April 3, 2023 to April 30, 2024 will be selected to the Olympic Team.

So Gu was in the top 3?? Here is the rankings

  4. Stoss also hinted that both sides are already looking beyond the likely awarding of the Games in July, suggesting that discussions about new sports have already begun.

“Immediately after the election we will come together to finalize the Olympic Program and it will be time in 2025 or 2026 to talk about new sports,” Stoss said.

“We have some ideas, we discussed it already,” he said about the organizing committee’s option to propose additional, locally relevant sports to the Winter Olympic program.

That was the most entertaining penalty shootout ever :d Indonesia GK was terrible in most of his moves against easier kicks but then he saved two very hard kicks :d and also scored his own penalty

who would have thought that Indonesia of all teams can end Korea's brilliant U23 run from 1992. :d the last time Korea failed to qualify for men's football most of this forum's member weren't even born :p

I feel young again. I was not born

I could be wrong but I thought a country could have up to 6 athletes in the Kayak events and 3 in the canoe.

Yes, what I mean is with the athletes already qualified, CKC can fill all the boats. By adding more athletes the results will be worse off than sticking with what we have.
