  1. Cape Verde wins the group, and finally a group where everything will come down to the last round. Also, the team that finishes third likely to be send to the repechage.
  2. My most sincere condolences. I never know what words are more comforting in these occasions, but even if we've never meet in person, I truly hope that with time you and each person she touched and cherised may find peace and remember her fondly.
  3. Guinea also secures at least the repechage round. So v. will be the deciding match on Thursday.

  5. Neither in Spanish or other romance language as far I as I know.
  6. In Colombia, only Cali and Barranquilla could host on short notice. Medellin might throw the ring, but Santa Marta is too small and unprepared IMO. Mexico won't bid. Ana Guevara wants all the sports money for herself and her "friend", and those corrupt athletes that benefit from being represented by their PR agency. Guadalajara could be, after all our governor (whom I also dislike because of his arrogance and corruption) often disents from the federal government and we have one of the srongest local economies; but after the last government declined to host World Aquatics Championships, I don't think the city's bid could be well received racing against Colombia. Plus we'll need to construct a new Athletics venue, after the last has been transformed into a baseball stadium. Other than Guadalajara, only Tijuana and Monterrey could host on short notice, although venues couldn't be upgraded and no Olympic Village could be constructed. Santo Domingo may be another suitable option, and maybe they're willing to become the replacement host. I doubt Puerto Rico's government is willing to risk being ousted because they want to host a regional sports event. Sadly, San Jose and Trinidad & Tobago are not prepared to host such an event, even if they would have bid.
  7. Could be the penguins, could be @OlympicIRL having to bring a wasted Seamus home
  8. Not surprising to me at all. They were so far behind, most of the work at the venues haven't even started. I agree with you, Barranquilla or Cali will have to step in as no other country in the region could host the competition in a two year period.
  9. First time hosts don’t get any bias from the judges in a major event.
  10. Yes, funny how nobody cries over the truly racist organization of Saint Louis 1904. Yes, the 1936 were shadowed by Nazi propaganda; so were the 1968 with the Tlatelolco massacre, the 1980 with good old Soviet cheating, the 1996 who were a huge Coke fest and so on. Yet each and every single of those editions had their moments. Remembering Berlin edition just because the Nazi propaganda simple hinder such stories of true Olympic spirit like the story behind Jesse Owens and Lutz Long friendship; Owens own achievements which were "diplomatically" recognized by Hitler, while being snubbed by FDR, and meanwhile, the Democratic party was ruling the Southern US states with Jim Crow laws; the first relay of the Olympic flame and so on. But of course, let's just please those who think they're so correct in their popular views.
  11. That's because 3 of said stops are in countries in which their government are doing crap about the Pandemic, so why risk any contagions for the people working in the series?
  12. I directly blame Winnie the Pooh and the rest of China's Communist leadership for this shitty pandemic. I really feel bad for the Chinese people, though.
  13. Well, I'm not so sure, but given the rhythm and traditional instrumentation, it is most likely a folk song from the Tehuantepec Isthmus in Oaxaca and Veracruz. The song borrows some from the Llorona legend, but its lyrics also aludes to a form of unrequited or platonic love for a woman that the singer identifies or sees as similar to the Llorona in the myth.
  14. Surprised Mexico is number 1 for Russian people.
  15. Well, in a certain way he did Of course, he argüed there some things that natural order made unmutable, and as such, were the inspiration for what it later became known as "human rights" (or as learned during my university years, 1st Generation Human Rights), while human opinions, are always subject to a certain condition and learning, thus could not be taken to represent the whole and only truth (more relativism) and be established as a political ideology to govern a State.
  16. That doesn't mean it's fair for the other competitors. For me, it's no so much as the amount of medals, but the deliberate attempts to cheat and find "legal" means to do so (Norway with their asthma medication is another example), depriving the world of a honest competition. I know cheating has always existed and will continue to do so; but isn't WADA's legal battle against Russia precisely the State's cover up of cheating?
  17. Well, without going further in a thread that doesn't belong, let's say I'm against any word that finishes in "-ism". As a profesor at high school said, "any ism seeks to have the absolute truth in a world of relatives"
  18. That's why I call them pseudo communist. They say they're left leaning and keeping the country away from conservatism and neoliberalism, yet: The President and the Congress he controls is moving towards criminalizing memes about government officials. He was about to deprive 75% of public employees of their computers and then force them to buy them back from the government. He supports strong Evangelical sects, which have cause lack of funds for the National Humans Right Commission, which he calls absurds. He's about to end the independence of the Electoral authority and courts. He cut the funds for public sports and Olympic hopefuls, yet he gave away more than 2 thousand million pesos to private entrepeneurs of the Mexican Baseball League. He signed that aberration called T-MEC, which basically ends any benefit NAFTA had for Mexican industry and services, and now turns the country into a slave force. I have no ill will toward social (but not socialist) systems, like the policies that have been implemented by some European countries; but, as I have repeatedly said in this forum, there is not a single left leaning or socialist politician in the whole country; just a bunch of thieves and crooks who use political terms to further down their own personal fortunes.
  19. Like they didn't now it before Rio... in an age when every nude picture by celebreties is leaked, and every conspiration document is revealed by "hacktivists"
  20. Well, this sport is not even fully implemented in Mexico and has not made it into the Olimpiada Juvenil, an event also cancelled by our pseudo communist current government.
