  1. It's Navarro
  2. MEXICO - 126 athletes (full list) I doubt there will be more additions, unless mroe male golfers continue to withdraw in which case a second men could be add. On the other hand, with some arbitrary criteria there are two track & field competitors who made the standard but were left out of the team because of their corrupt president, who is already in risk of being jailed (not that the people behind this are clean, is our very stupid federal government).
  3. According to this article, (in Spanish)... Saudi Arabia received four wildcards for women competitors... I understand the policy of inclusion towards women, but this is a big snub to thousands of capable athletes of both genders who can't be in the Olympics because of restrictions on the number of competitors.
  4. I actually did a little research, he achieved the mark while competing for Greece, but in the last European Championships he switch his allegiance to Cyprus, so as the individual ranking quotas are nominal, he shall be part of Cypriot team.
  5. Santiago Gonzalez and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela are going to Rio in men's doubles! (source in Spanish) This marks the return of Mexican tennis after a 16 year absence.
  6. If you read the Olympic Reports before the 1960's many delegations had a certain number of chaperones for their female athletes. I believe it was to ensure the ladies will behave properly and no man would take advantage of them.
  7. Well there's plenty of time ahead... I will cheer for her in this event.
  8. Melissa Bishop just broke the Canadian record in 800 meters a meeting in Edmonton - 1:57.43, which puts her fourth in this years list
  9. Indeed a hard blow for him, the spanish delegation and the triathlon competition.
  10. From Mexico there will be one naturalized athlete... Kevin Chavez (little traitor ) will represent Australia in 3m Springboard... not only Australia robbed us one good coach in that discipline (well to be fair, he was not appreciated by the corrupt federation here) now they steal the upcoming talent... The other competitor that had previously competed for Mexico is Jackie Galloway (USA, tae kwon do)... she wasnumber 3 on the national team, behind Rosario Espinosa and Briseida Acosta in +67 Olympic category, so she opted to compete for her country of birth (she holds dual citizenship).
  11. Singing that song? No wonder NBC will not broadcast live... if she performs it (including the coreography) might be too much for American audiences.
  12. Mexican Committee has confirmed that Rodolfo Cazaubon will compete in Rio, as one of the quotas was reallocated (apparently that of the second Philippine golfer. (source)
  13. Welcome to the new forum!!
  14. Here's the press release (in Spanish) from the Mexican Committee in which they argue that they are respecting the initial selection criteria (also in Spanish set by the national swimming federation, in which they stated no OST athletes will be selected for Rio. In said document, it says clearly that the federation will only nominate those athletes with "A" mark, also shortening their qualification period until May 15. To not make this long, this is just another power game between the idiot authorities that is affecting our competitors; it's sad to left behind the 2 or 3 swimmers that could be added to the team, but if they allowed the Mexican Athletics federation to change the selection process (to include 3 more athletes, that initially didn't qualify through) this is a clear case of lack of equity in the process.
  15. Mexican Olympic Committee rejected the "B" standards, so only 3 swimmers (all with OQT) this time
  16. Good draw for the Mexican pair... not unbeatable teams (they have beaten Lucena/Dalhauser in the last 2 matches between them), so a good chance for them to progress to knock out rounds; of course, they always seem to have the thoughest luck in that instance, so I don't know how far they can go.
  17. [hide] Knockout Round June 25th - July 10th, 2016 16 Nations, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Final, winning Nation will become Men's Football UEFA Euro 2016 Champion Final Central European Summer Time (GMT +2) Date and Venue Team 1 T1 T2 Team 2 July 10th 2016, h. 21:00, Stade de France, Saint-Denis Portugal 0 2 France [/hide]
  18. Another change in the list... According to this article (in spanish), Felix de Lara earned a black card in the Pan American Championships last months earning a 2 month suspension; this means Eileen Grench will take her place in Rio.
  19. 120 athletes for Mexico now... probably it will be 124 by Monday.
  20. If any diving event is included, I could probably help.
  21. Why on earth does the Mexican team still does not how to play the 3rd quarter Let's see how the game against Italy goes, but I don't give them much hopes.
  22. And its official, Lino Muñoz will be in Rio (source) With this, Mexico has at least one athlete in each individual sport, with the exception of Tennis.
