  1. More than a consolation it reminds me that sport budget in this country is not a priority for this crap government I wish that they manage to score a goal in the next two games, that's all I ask.
  2. Totally agree... I mean, the quotas in women's are already defined: one will go to USA (Yue WU qualified in the Pan American Games) with the other two going to Canada. The only real contest here is to determine if USA or CANADA will get 2 participants in men's and get the regional spot in the respective team event.
  3. I'm crossing my fingers tomorrow for Women's Junio Sabre... Arrayales might get a medal, if she gest her act together.
  4. It will be a local competition; I imagine that if they post a time nearing that of the boats that qualified at last years world championships, the Federation will send them to the qualification event in Europe.
  5. Mexican girls were humiliated 0-18 by Argentina in Pan American Junior Championship
  6. Mexican Federation has oficially selected Kenia Lechuga and Juan Carlos Cabrera, both in single sculls, as the Mexican rowers for Rio; they will give an additional chance to the doubles boat to qualify in the last regatta (this time in M2x) if they clock a good time this weekend.
  7. And Tsuboi did it! Brazil will have 2 players in singles and will play teams in both genders... Paraguay
  8. Wow, once again the last game will be defined in the seventh set, and just like yesterday, Tsuboi couldn't define with the game 3-1 on his favor...
  9. I feel sorry for Sao Tome & Principe, it's just heartbreaking losing because of a sudden injury.
  10. Biggest news from today's draws in Latin American tournament was Brazil being at risk of not qualifying to the men's team competition afte Gustavo Tsuboi was defeated in 7 sets by Marcos Madrid... It was a very exciting match to watch, especially because Madrid was 1-3 down and then recover and played to his best, finally earning a spot in the Olympics after two unsuccesful attempts. I almost cry along him and his family. The other winner of the dayw as Brian Afanador, who defeated Lamadrid from Chile, in what was another match of bad luck for the hosts. Tomorrow Tsuboi will have a huge pressure to achieve the ticket and avoid just giving the spot to the Cubans, who qualified two players in Day One... given his form this past days is certainly no easy job, especially because he has Alto and Gilabert in the way, and either Miño or Lamadrid in the final game. In women's, Brazil got the two spots thanks to Caroline Kumahara and Li Guin. Once again, Yadira Silva fell short in the last match, but she and Gremlis Arvelo are the top seeds in tomorrow's draw.
  11. Wow, talking about surprises in the men's draw, Cuba grab the first two tickets unexpectedly, in both cases denying hosts Chile a spot The next two days will be very exciting to watch as there at least 8 players with legit aspirations for the other 3 places... sadly Marcos Madrid once failed miserably in the first round, not even being able to take a set. Meanwhile in the women's, Adriana Diaz of Puerto Rico demonstrated why she's probably the best player from the region and overcome a tough challenge; on the other hand Yadira Silva played her worst match and was defeated by Colombia's Lady Ruano. She'll need a lot of luck and power tomorrow, since her half of the draw is where the most difficult players are grouped.
  12. MEXICO Natalia Lafourcade - Hasta la Raíz Lyrics in English I keep crossing rivers, walking through jungles, loving the sun Every day I keep pulling thorns from the depths of my heart, At night I keep igniting dreams To clean every memory with sacred smoke When I write your name in the white sand in a blue background, When I look at the sky, in the cruel form of a grey cloud you appear, One evening I climb a high hill, Look at the past, you will know that I have not forgotten I carry you inside me, to the root, And, no matter it grows, you will be here Although I hide myself behind the mountain And find a field full of sugar cane, There will be no way, my moonbeam, For you to leave I think that every instant I have survived while walking And every second of uncertainty, every moment of not knowing Are the exact key to this tissue that I always carry under my skin In this way I protect you, here you remain I carry you inside me, to the root, And, no matter it grows, you will be here Although I hide myself behind the mountain And find a field full of sugar cane, There will be no way, my moonbeam, For you to leave, for you to leave I carry you inside me, to the root, And, no matter it grows, you will be here Although I hide myself behind the mountain And find a field full of sugar cane, There will be no way, my moonbeam, For you to leave, for you to leave I carry you inside me, to the root, And, no matter it grows, you will be here Although I hide myself behind the mountain And find a field full of sugar cane, There will be no way, my moonbeam, For you to leave
  13. According to this article, New Zealand chose Carrington for both single races, so this confirms a place for Samoa in Women's K1 200m
  14. Good performances by the Mexican competitors in World Cup #3... Tamara Vega and Mariana Arceo managed to advance to women's final tomorrow... fingers crossed for Arceo to have a good finish here, since her quest for a spot in the Olympics was hindered by lack of resources by the Mexican federation and government In the men's competition. Ismael Hernandez had a bad day, but on the good hand both Jorge Inzunza and Alvaro Sandoval advance to the final, so I also wish for them to collect as many points as they can and see if they can make take a second ticket for Mexico.
  15. Seeing the draws for the 1st day of Latin America qualification tournament, the favourites for the ticket will be Gustavo Tsuboi in the upper half (although Madrid has a small chance to stop him in quarterfinals and Alto , if he advances to semifinals, could also give the surprise) and Brian Afanador in the bottom part (who doesn't seem to have a strong rival, tough he must watch for Cuba's Andy Pereira). In women's, Adriana Diaz and Lin Gui will be an interesting match for one of the tickets, with the other will probably being contested between Yadira Silva who is attempting to comepte in her third consecutive Olympics and Caroline Kumahara :BRA. I just hope third time is a charm for Madrid; the poor guy has been on the line on the past two Olympic cycles, being defeated in 7 sets in the decisive match.
  16. Mexican Federation has made public the names of the divers that will compete in Rio. Out of 8 places in men's events, they will take 5 divers and out of 6 in women they will send 4. Men's 3m Sprinboard: Rommel Pacheco, Rodrigo Diego Men's 3m Synchronized Springboard: Rommel Pacheco/Jahir Ocampo Men's 10m Platform: Ivan Garcia, German Sanchez Men's 10m Synchronized Springboard: Ivan Garcia/German Sanchez Women's 3m Springboard: Dolores Hernandez/Melany Hernandez Women's 10m Platform: Paola Espinosa, Alejandra Orozco Women's 10m Synchronized Springboard: Paola Espinosa/Alejandra Orozco Among them, the only real contenders for the podium are Rommel Pacheco and Garcia/Sanchez, while Garcia in individual platform, Espinosa/Orozco and Pacheco/Ocampo in synchro are outside contenders, of course, if they manage to be in top form (and judges favor).
  17. Individual Results from Grand Prix de Thiais, France. Among contenders for Olympic qualification, Mickova get some good notes, which if she manages to repeat or better, it could mean she's in contention for the last ticket to Rio. On the other hand Bezzoubenko had a dissapointing performance, but maybe she can improve on her next appearance. I'm glad Diaz Arnal is scoring around 16 points in each apparatus; it may be a long shot for 2016, but it seems that the training in Bulgaria has helped her to be more consistent.
  18. I understand that, but just think of the athletes who actually gave their best and earned that ticket being not selected by their NOC's because of this rule. It's not fair for them as rowers. On the other hand I agree, those countries should be allowed to compete in their continental regattas
  19. If qualified tomorrow in men's Lightweight double sculls, Mexico probably will reject the single sculls quota. It's so unfair that only one boat can qualify through continental regatta.
  20. For me the surprise was the girl from Bermuda beating Fabiana Beltrame (BRA) for the direct spot in the semifinals... she could be in contention for one of the tickets. Here's a link for live results

  23. Yes, but if you looked at the seedings, maybe 3 or 4 boxers should have gone to Rio from this tournament
  24. A single quota for Mexico in the men's division; it will be hard to qualify in the last chance tournament... Fingers crossed for Victoria Torres, who is against a boxer from the USA in Women's -60kg
