  2. Indeed RIP Osorio career. He's the one to blame after all, never actually creating a team and a style of play, just experimenting with many line-ups... I was just laughing after the 3rd, the mexican defense is going to fall from everyone grace and probably be lucky enough to find a place in a 2nd division club in Mexico. Ochoa showed what a mediocre goalie he's, and his performance in Brazil was just a one time miracle. Congrats Chile, you showed how to play a match today!
  3. According to this article it seems FIE ruled Yuan Ping could not compete for New Zealand and it got reallocated to Vietnam Do Thi Anh
  4. Indeed a complete failure for Mexico... I knew their side of the bracket was complicated, but that 0-6 against Canada was just disaster, a sign of poor mental strenght, which in the case of Juan Rene Serrano keeps getting worse (I still have nightmares about that breakdown in Beijing 8 years ago)... well, I hope this gets some renovation on both the archery federation and the team, it's time to change.
  5. Completely agreed, although I would raise the number of cases for a federation ban to 4.
  6. What this shows is that doping policy must be, if A and B samples are positive and no extenuating circumstances, then life ban (any involvement in sports) on that athlete immediately.
  7. Thank you for your answer... I cross my fingers for Mexican fencers to grab some points and avoid a very unfavorable first round match against medal contenders.
  8. Thank you very much for your answer. Wow, that's unfair for individual athletes; i don't understand why do they privilege team competition, when it's really just the accumulation of the individual scores.
  9. @dcro maybe I've already ask you this, but what about Berna Pujals? Does she has a good possibility to go further that first round?
  10. Yes, very sad for El Salvador. Anyway, today the Mexican team (Serrano, Boardman and Zamora) made their second appearance in succesion in the final (and this time with a complete field of teams, unliky Medellin). I just pray for them to keep that form tomorrow (when it counts) and see them in Rio.
  11. @phelps does the European and Pan American Championships next week are the last competitions counting towards World Ranking? Do the brackets for the Olympics will be known after this?

  13. I know, that was the most cruel result for them... also sad for the Kiwi girls
  14. Team Brackets and Individual Rank for Women Qualification Tournament. Germany qualified as first rank team; however following a rather easy first round match, they could find very diificult teams in quarter and semifinals; still I count on them to qualify; the other half of the draw is easier, however more difficult to predict as no team is that consistent; I would say that in the end Chinese Taipei would qualify to the final and Italy might fight for the last team quota, most probably against the "USA" team
  15. Well, as of first half results you may see this match in quarterfinals. Venezuela is doing a very good tournament.
  16. I don't think so... Mexico is playing bad... they've been lucky to score, but this crappy coach still doesn't have an idea of how to play.
  17. The tournament (which is also a World Cup) will continue tomorrow with ranking rounds for the reamining events (including compound arhcers) Then on Thursday afternoon they will have the team elimination rounds of the qualification tournament, followed on Friday with the elimination round for individuals.
  18. The last qualification tournament started today in Antalya, Turkey, with men's qualifications. Team Olympic Qualification Bracket Individual Qualification Ranking On the bright side an archer from Bhutan achieved MQS in the ranking round, and he's currently 24 on the individual ranking (Olympic qualification) so I hope they will give him a tripartite quota. Meanwhile, Malawi's archer fell short of achieving the MQS, but they may overlook that and also give a tripartite place to him. Regarding team qualification. Mexico did good but sadly is in the hardest half of the draw; if they survive against Canada and France though, they might get the last spot of the tournament; but being realistic I think the spots will go to India, Japan and France.
  19. Actually is Jesus Lopez Sanchez 14th at 62kg and Antonis Martasidis 15th at 85kg. Depending on further reallocations, Israel is almost likely to qualify a lifter.
  20. And in the end Canada just edged Venezuela by one point... the seven quotas then go to the countries that @dcro said; meanwhile, Cuba and Mexico's places in individual rankings will go to Venezuela and Greece
  21. And it seems, the scoreboard was wrong and Kobaladze indeed will finish, giving Canada a quota.
  22. Actually, Kobaladze will not finish unfortunately, meaning Canada ties with Chile on total number of classification points (116). Meanwhile if Venezuela finish in 6th position or better they will qualify even when their first three competitors did not finish.
  23. BWF announced Australia picked its men's and mixed pairs to compete in Rio (source), meaning both single spots were offered to New Zealan. If I interpret correctly the nomination criteria, NZL might not select them, and as there is no other player from Oceania that satisfy the minimum criteria for participation in Rio, those place could end going to Mexico (in men) and the Netherlands (in women).
  24. Yes, but if I understand the qualification process correctly, Canada's will keep the place won in Pan American championships and the place it currently has in the individual rankings will be assigned to the NOC of the next best lifter in the individual rankings.
