Don't think he'll miss it, it's a 15.533, he'll make it, but maybe he will need to step it up f he wants to be in the podium -

Larduet failed his first vault and yet the idiot judges awarded him a 7.6 execution Common you corrupt idiots, he completely missed the execution and fell on his hands and knees. -
Fantastic results for Mexican rowers, especially Kenia Lechuga winning with the best time of the women's single sculls. Maybe a place in the semifinals for her and Juan Carlos Cabrera is not out of the question I know the conditions are hard and that has provided some strange results, but maybe on the next day the federation will take some measures about it.

First day for Mexican fencers started as expected, with a loss... it seems to me that Alejandra Teran lost her focus in the last episode, and the Japanese Sato (who is now in the round of 16, beating higher seed Logunova from Russia) just took the opportunity.

Great ceremony; I like most of the segments (except that big snore after the Parade and before the Anthem/Oaths).. Well done Brazil! You gave a good glimpse of your patrimony and culture, proved you're capable of hosting this Games! -

Decent performance by the Mexican women, although very dissapointed by Aida Roman... she showed she's far from the level she had following her silver in London, and sadly, it drag the other archers down for the team event. As for their individual chances, the most likely to advance is Valencia, whose first two matches are rather accesible for her; however she must be overconfident and try to do her best in the 1/8 match against an archer from India or Chinese Taipei, so she can advance to quarters (I don't think she can go further). Bayardo has in theory one of the easiest first round matches, but she will be put to the test in the next stage against Germany's Unruh or Brito for Venezuela (a pretty even match in either case); finally Roman will have to overcome whatever difficulties she had today and use her greater experience against the archer from Moldova in the first round and then trying to surprise two Chinese girls (which are her most probable rivals); if she manages to do that, then she will face Ki Bo Bae from South Korea in a reedition of their gold medal match four years ago. In the team competition, Ukraine and Japan should be the most interesting match in the initial round (yet India and Mexico must be aware of Colombia and Georgia respectively), with the winner having the "privilege" of facing the South Korean team in quarterfinals and that tiny option for an upset; the other three matches of that round should be interesting to watch if the higher seeds prevail in the previous round. I think semifinals could see Korea v. Mexico and Russia v. China, with my candidates for the podium being Korea, Russia and (with God's help) Mexico in that order,

@LDOG / @dcro / @hckosice I was filling out the events in Miscellaneous number 2 and noticed there's no Any other option in Women's K4. Shall I take that as I must choose all 3 medalists from the given countries? Thank you in advance -
A little dissapointing performance by Ernesto Boardman in his Olympic debut... good news is that he doesn't have a Korean archer in his path, yet his route won't be easy. First is the guy from Cuba, which are always sneaky competitors and like to play mental games with their rivals (in which Mexican are extremely weak, as evidenced by the lack of a full team here despite reaching the final in the last 2 world cups and being Pan American champions), yet he shall win that match... next round he will face Atanu Das from India in which his chances are 50/50... I will be satisfied if he goes to the round of of 16, in which he will most likely be out. As for tomorrow team competition, the favorites are (ITA, KOR and USA) are safe in the first round, in which the only interesting match is the Netherlands v. Spain; yet whoever wins will face Korea, so unless one of the biggest upsets in Olympic archery happens, the Koreans shall go on. Also Italy shall win over Brazil/China, but Chinese Taipei could give some trouble to USA (yet, I'm confident they will reach semis) and if France has a good day they should win over the Aussies. In the end, I'm going for a final between top two seeds, with Italy earning the bronze over the French, But anything can happen in direct elimination (bad wind, a no shot due to overcoming time limit) so expect some surprise.
-
And now its 1-1, I celebrated too early
-
I'm confident both Mexican rowers can advance tomorrow and avoid the repechages. Still, the heats doesn't seem to be real balanced, at least in Single Sculls. Does the time in the prelims affects the seeding for the next rounds?
-
Maybe Belize has a chance of at least winning a match in Rio! On the other hand, though luck for the Mexican girls with their draw, especially Zambotti.
-
Oribe ... come on we need more goals if we want to defend that gold.
