    So far, pretty dissapointing results for a discipline which had showed a great development in the last years. Aida Roman was completely out of form and gave a sad performance since the qualifying rounds; Boardman paid the price for his inexperience and let himself crumble against a mediocre Cuban archer (for international standards) who clearly did just enough to overcome him. I really pray for either Valencia or Bayardo to reach at least round of 16 tomorrow

    I'm praying for Berna Pujals to have her best day ever tomorrow, so she can have a shot of qualifying to the next phase in dressage.

    So far mediocre results for Mexican synchro pairs, that in both genders, were defending silver... still tomorrow shall be a better competition for Rommel and Jahir in springboard. In any case, a medal will be an extraordinary achievement this time.

    A decent final place for Moreno, 31 in all around... I expected both Mexican competitors to advance to a final (Moreno in vault, Corral in pommel horse), but they fell somewhat short.

    Zavala I'm beyond sadness, it was so close for her, yet her nerves got her in the end... I could already feel the first medal today. Still, she's a great athlete and makes us proud, probably the best finish ever by a Mexican shooter. Also a brave effort by Goretti Zumaya yesterday in 10m Air Rifle... she's only 19 and has prove she can compete with women older than her. Let's see what happens in Tokyo four years from now (also, to increase our number of shooters)

    Sad indeed that he underperforms in the most important competition Corral still has to perform on parallel bars, but I'm not holding any hope.

    At least he scored above 14 points, unlike Corral... but seeing this subdivision scores, makes me suspicious about fair judging. As I commented earlier, Larduet didn't perform his vault correctly (if at all, he just bounced without maintaning any position and landed on his knees) and still managed a score over 13 points

    It's sad to loss Ait Said, since he was most likely going to compete in the Rings final and probably earn his country their only medal in this discipline. Hopes he recovers and finds the strength to continue in the sport.

    Congrats to Pareto and Argentina for that gold She's my favorite non-Mexican judoka. On a side note, Mexico's Edna Carrillo had a decent participation in the same class, hope she continues to improve.

    Jossimar Calvo is going to be the highest ranked gymnast from Hispanic countries in the All Around, also with good chances of qualifying to the Parallel Bars final and maybe sneaking in Pommel Horse. What a debut for him
