  1. The one thing I remember from those Games opening is the kid hitting the baseball on fire to lit the cauldron, A la Barcelona
  2. It's a complex vexillogical matter, which only Sheldon Cooper could explain in "Fun with Flags"... but there are differences between a National Flag, a Civic Flag and a National Ensign.
  3. But "San" goes before "Santa" in Spanish
  4. But like half the total athletes, even in the parade.
  5. You mean after right?
  6. Only organizers know for real... they probably mixed up the order at that point, wanting for Peru to enter.
  7. Error in the alphabetical order in Spanish... Saint Lucia before Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  8. Paraguayan flag perfectly displayed... different sides
  9. VIVA MÉXICO Come on guys, I cheer for you... show them we have your pride, your courage. You make me proud of you. I wish nothing but the best for each one
  10. You may catch it on the decorations at athletics venue
  11. Again Mijain... boooooriiiiiing
  12. Athletes parade
  13. That's always the case with official sponsors seats... they fail to allocate them on time. Can't complain tough, that's how I ended going to a Libertadores Cup final
  14. And we arrive probably to the part I'll like the least... Games' song is bad, to say the least.
  15. As they did in Guadalajara 8 years ago... I remember the athletes avoiding the "leftover" during the parade
  16. I have like the ceremony so far. In comparison, Guadalajara's was quite boring and predictable, except for the audience, which was really engaged in the party atmosphere.
  17. I think its worse in Mexico City... nevertheless is one of those places you need to visit during your lifetime. Great place to visit, but terrible place to live.
  18. Indeed, a beatiful city... and comparing to Mexican cities and even Santiago de Chile, quite clean, at least in the areas around the main square and other tourist spots.
  19. And now they introduce Olympic Champion, 1976, Fencing... Thooooomaaaaas Baaaach
  20. About to start. It bring me memories of my experience eight years ago, seeing an opening ceremony at my city.
  21. Well it's still winter in South America, and Lima is regularly cloudy and chilly.
  22. My thoughts exactly, it looked similar to an ice rink. Love it
  23. An incredible advantage indeed.
  24. As @Olympian1010 said, I'm currently busier with 2019 PanAms. I watched both preliminaries and the finals. All I can say is that Gary Hunt is a true master, especially going into the last round. His final dive was nearly perfect and he surely deserved those 9-5-10 scores. I can only have respect for him, he's a legend. LoBue sadly was penalized in that last dive, the final difference with Hunt should have been lower. And about Paredes, well, he returned to his level after two dissapointing seasons, so I'm happy he ended in the podium. As for the women's, I'm heavily upset. Iffland was given the gold by the judges, who made the calculations so Jimenez ended on the losing side by .15. However I don't blame Iffland, because she's a great diver and it was her gold to lose. I think the fault lies within FINA, especifically Cornel Marinescu (sp?) who's in collution with Mexican federation president Todorov, who has a personal grudge against Jimenez because she was our first top level athlete to publicly speak of the mismanagement and corruption in this sport.
  25. Surprising, bur understandable... USA and Canada have the best individual players in women's, so they saved themselves for the doubles competition in which they have a better shot for the medals.
