We have a separate feed focussing on our contingent only. I believe they have camera person on every boat & OBC are sharing that feed with local broadcasters. We obviously have the worldwide feed running as the main programme.

I applaud this concept, but it simply didn’t work. I would rather go back to delegations walking out with flag holders leading them in a packed stadium. But credit to the LOC & producers to find this innovative way of introducing nations & mixing the cultural programme as a filler. But the weather didn’t help either.

I don’t think Massimo will play Manika in doubles , he tried Kamath with both Manika & Sreeja in Lagos & Tunis. Sreeja & Kamath did very well together& even won a contender title. I think Manika will play the extra singles match while Sreeja & Archana will start with the doubles. Harmeet has been struggling lately & in the last few months leading upto olympics his form has been terrible such that he has fallen behind Sathiyan & Manav in ranking.

Draws Men’s Individual: R of 64 Dhiraj v LI - 30th July Tarundeep v Hall - 31st July Pravin v Kao - 1st Aug The draw is good for Dhiraj & deservedly so after finishing 4th in ranking round. He has a clear path till QF & after that anything can happen on the day. Tarundeep has a probable match with Unruh in R of 16 which will be key. Pravin will do well to win a match , he will play Ellison next which will be tough & he was poor in ranking round. Men’s Team : QF V / - 29th July The draw has opened up quiet nicely for us thanks to finishing 3rd in Ranking round. We have a clear path to Final with winnable/ matches where no is a favourite. Mixed Team : Dhiraj/ Ankita v - 2nd Aug The draws is tricky, we have Spain/ China in QF & possible SF with Korea. Will do well to reach SF. Overall after ranking round we still have hopes of clinching our first medal from Archery in Olympics.

After completion of men’s ranking Round : Good job by our boys. Dhiraj was excellent as he has been for most of this year. Tarundeep did really well for most part of the qualifying. Pravin was disappointing but he was the weakest link , so it was expected. Not many team has 3 strong archers apart from Korea. A strong 3rd place by our team. Men’s Individual: Dhiraj : 4th ( 681) Tarundeep : 14th ( 674) Pravin : 39th (658) Men’s Team : 3rd ( 2013) Mixed Team : 5th ( 1347) * Mixed team will be Dhiraj & Ankita

Good qualification for our Men’s Team & individually Dhiraj finished an excellent 4th. With this good performance our mixed team finished on a creditable 5th . Men’s Team finishing 3rd guarantees not facing Korean team till final. We have a nice path to the final . A very satisfying day for us today in Archery.

Judo Draw Round 1 Tulika Maan v Oritz This is a good draw for her against a judoka she will feel she can beat. She might be able to win a bout here & then will run into WR 9 .

Tennis Draws : Men’s Singles : R of 64 Nagal v Moutet Men’s Doubles : R of 32 Bopanna/ Balaji v Reboul/ Roger-Vasselin Considering his ranking Sumit Nagal got a very fair draw. He play Moutet who is similarly ranked . The doubles pair has got a OK draw , if they win their first round they will run into the 2nd seed germans in R of 16.

TT draws Men’s Team : R of 16 V Women’s Team R of 16 V Men’s Individual Preliminary Round: Harmeet v Yaman - 27th July 19:15 Hrs R of 64 Sharath v Kozul Women’s Individual R of 64 Sreeja v Kallberg Manika v Hursey The draw worked out quiet well for the women’s team & a path can be found to reach SF, which will be historic. Harmeet has a tough draw but that was expected will be interesting to see who goes furthest among Sharath, Sreeja & Manika .

More to do with expectations & experience. She is the most talented & experienced archer in the women’s team. However she has been underperforming by her reputation in the last 3 Olympics. I expected better from her. 665+ was the least she could have done.

The Draws : Women’s Team: QF V / 28th July 17:45 Hrs IST Women’s Individual: R of 64 matches Ankita v Myszor - 30th Jul Bhajan v Kamal - 30th Jul Deepika v Parnat - 31st Jul The draw has opened up nicely for our team , we have a fair chance of reaching the SF, finishing in top 4 was important as that ensured a direct QF birth. Individual draws have opened a path for one of our girls to reach QF & then anything can happen. The downside is Ankita will play Bhajan in R of 32 provided they win their opening round matches. With Deepika she can loose her first match against Estonian or could well upset other top seeds but it will depend on that day. Lets hope the men too finish in Top 4 & we get a good XD draw.
