  1. It's not about gold, Miroslaw would actually stand a chance to win any medal in Paris. Here in Tokyo even Polish TV didn't hype her for a medal despite the WR because everyone knew she would finish 8th in lead & boulder and hence miss out. You don't put Usain Bolt in 10,000 race and expect him to win a medal. I really hope this unfair combined gets canned in Paris and they will split the events like in World Games.
  2. Individual 100m sprints always come before 400 and that is the main goal, you want to start the athletics in a high and pick it from there.
  3. Sure enough delivers in modern pentathlon, a totally obscure sport these days. Asadauskaite is 37yo though so they might not count on her in Paris anymore.
  4. Overall, how is the Games for Canada? Did you complain much about Week 1? Since Italy and Poland have had a tremendous run of form in Week 2 (by our own standards) I wonder if Canada had a better first or second week? You didn't win any golds in swimming?
  5. Obviously she goes there. The days of Birgit Prinz retiring at age 34 are long over
  6. has the most successful athletics in OG history already. Overall, if we win one more silver Tokyo will be the most successful SOG since Sydney 2000. 12 total medals are the most since Sydney 2000 already.
  7. Neah, I wouldn't be surprised if she goes to Paris at age 41
  8. Here's the thing, athletes can always pretend their watch failed or something and claim they didn't know they were on a warning. If a judge waves a card in your face then you can't claim you didn't see it.
  9. Sinclair is 38 years old. She'll have to be left off the team one day Brazil keeps fielding Formiga and they haven't won anything in women's football for decades.
  10. Yes, this is basically how Greece won Euros 2004. Play defense, ugly stuff up front and hope for 1-0 wins thru set pieces. It works once every decade for someone. It's gonna be hard for your women to win anything again if Labee remains the best player on the team.
  11. I'm not a big fan of such carrying. When you're too old, you're too old. I can only assume the depth of women's football in Canada doesn't allow you to ditch Sinclair? USA has the same problem, Rapinoe & Lloyd are too old anymore and 3rd place for USA must be considered a huge failure for them.
  12. Neah, this was their chance. USA can't possibly struggle for so long with old roster, France will be there in Paris and of course Netherlands could be there too. This was the best chance for Sweden to finally win gold. They blew it.
  13. But she's not a male competing among women so it doesn't really matter?
  14. Forget Sinclair, Labee won you this gold that is for sure.
  15. This definitely should stop all whinging about 2012 SF once and for all You got very lucky here indeed. Only scored two goals in three knockout games - both from penalties
  16. This is some bad penalty shooting!!!
  17. Lawrence with the Socrates penalty. Of course it's saved...
  18. Mitchell-Blake will get crushed over this. He had terrible individual 200m already and now loses the gold by 0,01 to Italy of all teams
  19. I suppose those first week comments about Italy having terrible OG didn't age well?
  20. Only one really iffy changeover for and they run away with gold. But the 1st changeover was close to being outside the zone!
  21. Okay, let's see if can somehow screw it up in women's 4x100
  22. It doesn't work that way. But I guess if corruption benefits Canada then it's acceptable
  23. Aleksandra Miroslaw set the WR in speed climbing but predictably finished last in lead & bouldering and still finished 4th overall. This unfair format won't be missed for sure. Let's hope Miroslaw stays in form to contend in speed climbing alone in Paris.
