  1. Here are the medal standings if you only include Olympic events. Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Chile take the biggest hit of the top 10 nations. Cuba ends up passing Colombia while Canad passes Mexico in the overall rankings. Further down, Costa Rica, Aruba and El Salvador also take big hits. Barbados, Bolivia, and Nicaragua lose all of their medals. 2. Rather unlikely, alright. If Churandy Martina gets a medal I swear I'm not gonna keep my eyes dry Individual medal for Liemarvin Bonevacia would be absolutely amazing as well. Both guys are true gold medal winners in terms of life attitude and overal source of inspiration. For example, I love Bonevacia's answer in Tokyo when, after the semi's (where he qualified for the final), he was asked about his 'prayer' before the race, asked if he was asking for help from above: "Not really, you're not gonna ask God to make other people have a bad race. I just asked, please, if today is my day, let my dream come true, if it's someone else's day, let their dream come true." Just a minor example, they're just overall great guys.

  10. Teams qualfied to OQTs (ordered by world ranking): We'll probably know who will play in each tournament tomorrow or during the next week but FIH rarely ever does real draws, they always use serpentine system for every competition so... one can try to deduct the line ups with it (one tournament with the teams ranked 1, 4, 5, etc, the other with 2, 3, 6, 7..).

    Pan American Games 2023

4 new medals, 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze added to the medal tally for team in the penultimate day of the Games. Fun fact of the day: Ecuador became yesterday the very first ever winner of the Race Walk mixed marathon competition in history, as the discipline was competed for the very first time ever... logically the triumph meant also setting the establishing new World, Continental and National Record of the discipline, the female member of the team Glenda Morejon won her 2nd medal of the games in Santiago, after her Silver in the 20km event, this time a gold she will shares with the flagbearer Brian Pintado. 7 - 11 - 16 Medals of the Day Juan Jose Acevedo, Karate M Kumite -84kg Gold Glenda Morejón/Brian Pintado, Athletics Mixed Team Marathon Race Walk Relay Gold Gabriela Vargas, Inline Speed Skating W 1000m Silver Andres Montaňo, Greco-Roman Wrestling M -67kg Bronze

  29. Cross Country skiing, change from 300 to now 350 FIS points as the max. Though the paragraph says 300, the chart shows 350 No change in quota Freestyle skiing: No change in quotas Hockey Luge: Each singles event loses 10! quotas and the men's doubles loses a sled. This creates an additional 22 quotas, which will be used for the women's doubles event. Nordic combined max number of athletes per NOC dropped from 5 to 3 (2 really) Ski jumping: Quota is gender equal (65 men to 50 men from 2022 to 2026, and 45 women in 2022 to 50 women in 2026). For men's a country must have 4 skiers in the top 25 allocation list to qualify the maximum 4 jumpers. Snowboarding: Quotas remain the same from Beijing, but the number per NOC drops to max 13 per gender (from 14). Also it looks like a country can enter 3 SBX teams, I believe it was 2 in 2022. All the systems (except alpine skiing) are now available on the IOC's website.

There was no way Canada was finishing second with second string teams in Athletics, rowing etc. Canada will only finish second if it sends its A team across all sports and that happens for only home games, see 2015.

Mexico should easily take third, Basque Pelota has 3 finals tomorrow, that sport is the difference between and Canada has the following chances tomorrow: Men's bowling singles Men's golf Men's team table tennis Women's squash team I think only the first 2 have a realistic shot, and with just 2 golds Canada would have its best ever non-home performance.

  33. Only 1 day to go and 24 medal events left. I'm curious to see some final positions in the medal table. Seems like 3rd place is between and , while 7th place will be or . Don't know how many gold chances they have left. Also interesting is the fight for the top 10. It seems like is safe and will fight for 10th place.

  34. hits the 200 medals mark with a gold in men's Football. While I'm happy (a gold is a gold), it's kinda sad lost this title at home (worse: on penalties). I still remember the our Rio 2016 gold medal - even though I'm not the biggest Football fan, it was one of the most celebrated moments by brazilian people.

Team Gushue wins back-to-back Pan Continental Curling Championships titles, defeating Korea’s Team Park 8-3! Still a long way to go, if we want to go back to dominating curling like we used to, but a step in the right direction.

Luckily the links in this thread still work perfectly. Thank you @hckošice!
