JEON Jihee from the Korean mix double you are behind of will most probably not participate Olympic Games, she failed in the Korean trials for WC this year so she is not on the list. Usually for east asian countries, if you can't participate the WC, then Olympic is even more unrealistic for you.

Thanks for the clarification. Didn´t know that.

Well, the chance is here. they have everything in their own hands, hopefully they will not throw it away

it seems we will have separate tournament West Asia zone which will be held from 23 to 26 February in Jordan. for other zones it will be held in Thailand from 6 to 12 April.

Entries for West Asian event

http://attu.org/storage/event_section/PihNbOjnC7Y9q8GUO8Kx8gwGe3jyksJa4jorTWGH.pdf

and this document says

http://attu.org/storage/event_section/XZcCX9FIGfQdxhYvLtKdF3xDbvpjqo8wwsm7OIgA.pdf

The remaining one (1) Asian Continental quota place shall be allocated to the highest ranked player among the respective first reserve players in each regional qualification, based on the May 2020 Individual Olympic Ranking Lists.

to me it means the best player in ITTF ranking among runner-ups in all 5 regions will qualify.

per my understanding they didn't limit Asian countries to qualify just 1, so India for example can qualify 1 by winning the region and the other one by finishing as the best runner-up !

this is the current WR for non-qualified athletes

30 :IND Gnanasekaran

34 :IND Achanta

61 :IRI Alamian

64 :KAZ Gerassimenko

90 :IND Desai

and women

42 :THA Sawettabut

67 :IND Batra

87 :THA Paranang

121 :IND Mukherjee

on the men's side it seems India only has to enter those 2 guys to qualify both of them !

That's correct though I don't know why they couldn't host a final tournament to decide the last quota.

yes that was a better idea with all players being available in Thailand, (except west Asia which is the weakest zone) this format opens doors for match fixing too. for example if this Thai girl keeps her place, she only has to reach the final and then she can do a favor to the other finalist (specially if the other finalist is from Thailand too)

the document also didn't say anything about a region with only 2 players entering from the same country. so I guess it means Mongolia is already qualified in women's singles. (unless they just don't show up)

btw on the men's side it seems the most interesting competition will be in central Asia zone, this Gerassimenko guy and our Alamian brothers. only if Taherkhani could convert his match point against Slovenia in team qualifier :wall: things could be much different
