Brazil has withdrawn from the olympic qualification tournament

Sad but their chances were slim. Will they be replaced though ? Good opportunity for Paraguay (who placed 4th at the 2019 SA qualifying tournament) to face stronger teams.

I'd like to know how the seeding will be made. WS teams surely first, in which order though ? If we take 2018-2019 then it's Samoa-France-Ireland, if we take 2019-2020 then it's France-Ireland-Samoa. Not much of a difference between n°2 and n°3 but since there is a huge level gap between those three teams and the rest, n°1 is assured to avoid the other two until the final. Same question for the other teams by the way, as there is no such thing as a world ranking in 7s.

Speak of the devil ... here are the pools :

Women's :

Pool A : :RUS :ARG :MEX :SAM

Pool B : :PNG :KAZ :JAM :TUN

Pool C : :FRA :HKG :COL :MAD

2 spots up for grabs. Russia and France probably n°1 and 2 but having France in pool C is quite strange since the n°3 is usually drawn in this pool. It really was a draw, so full coincidence. The two european teams shouldn't face each other before the final though, being in pool A and C. Had they been drawn in pool B and C, one of them would be eliminated, which is total nonsense.

Men's :

Pool A : :SAM :IRL :TGA :ZIM :MEX

Pool B : :FRA :HKG :CHI :UGA :JAM

It appears China has withdrawn too. Don't know the format, maybe quarter-finals, maybe straight semi-finals. Samoa seeded 1. 5 teams per pool so 2 matchs maximum in the last round.

Confirmed that it’s the top 2 into a semi final for the men. Seeding looks very favourable to France (when they don’t need it!).

It doesn't make any difference, France will have to play Samoa and Ireland in semis and final. It is not possible for any of these 3 teams to avoid playing the other 2 unless there is some unforeseen upset.

Hmm, not that much. It means Ireland/Samoa in semis and then in final, whereas having one of them in our pool could mean an easier semi-final.

The favourable bit to France is they don’t have to play any team of note until the semi final

by then whoever they’ve faced will likely have had 2 tight games

France, effectively, has a bye to the semi final

    • Few observations from the Globes.   Nikki Glaser had a nice opening monologue, but everything afterwards was bad. Plus i don't know what the make-up people did to her face, but i thought i was watching a wax figure.. But she changed 10 dresses showing us more of her cleavage, so that was a plus i guess.    This was probably not only the worst Globes, but probably one of the worst major award ceremonies in structure and writing... Everything was so awful... - None of the presenter skits worked and many were just cringe; - The weird camera angles, that widened around the presenters completely showed the audience not giving any fucks about what they were saying and some hiding their facepalms even. I was specifically watching in the background, since in these award shows we only get the camera in the presenters face against the screen, so this was new, but i was astonished how little the people were paying attention.    - Not showing barely any clips, or even images from the movies / series (sadly this has become a modern tradition to "save time") - The idiotic showing of the nominees. Not only without images from their performances, but them in a small picture on the side, while the screen was a damn Google Map with an arrow on their placement. Like WHO CARES where they sit in the room, show the person on the full screen... Morons.   About the winners:   - Like pretty much all winners on the movie side, with the exception of Emilia Perez, which i don't like at all and don't think it deserves awards.. - Especially happy for The Brutalist and Fernanda Torres;   - Anora was being hyped so much. Watched it, absolutely hated the first half, picked up greatly in the second, but in the end an above average film 7/10 for me. Not getting anything yesterday was a bit surprising if you'd followed the race, but not saying i'm sorry for it. Madison did a great performance, but her stocks are falling for an Oscars win and she will probably settle for only the Nom.   - Ariana Grande does a nice job in fooling people, that she is a good singer (which she is not) and now that she is a good actress (which she is not). Someone is getting screwed if she gets an Oscars Nom..   - Pissed that they didn't have the DeMille and Burnett awards on the main show, because of "time", but we now have the nonsense Box Office and Stand-Up comedy awards.. Everyone would have preferred a tribute to Davis and Ted Danson with a recap of their careers, rather than 30 minutes of useless stuff.   On the TV side it was pretty much as expected. Stoked for Colin Farrell's win.

    • The Colturi case affair is becoming increasingly loud in the Italian media. Yesterday commentators on the Italian public channel Rai began to openly say that they hope Lara will return to Italy and also criticize the terrible form of the Italian team in the women's slalom. I`m very happy about this, because the louder this affair is, the greater the pressure will be on the Italian federation to come to an agreement with the Colturi team (pressure from CONI, the ministry and maybe even higher).

    • Hell no, our home track is Sigulda, and our only track is wooden and located in the small city of Kremenets. And despite that we had 2x 4th place from our skeletonist Vladyslav Heraskevych and bronze in luge team relay
