We also had a car attempt to drive full speed through a crowd protestors in Bakersfield, California today as well.

Was that the one where it seemed like the car was being surrounded and hit by 'protestors' (i.e. being attacked) before that happened, or was that another one somewhere else in the country? It's confusing to keep up with exactly all the incidents within a grand situation like this :p

My town is not immune to the protests either. Our local police shot and killed a man about 2 miles from house a few hours ago. Right now, the details of incident are really murky. Police claim he had a gun, some people claim he was blind, and no one seems to know what race he was. Nonetheless people arrived at the scene to protest. It sounds like it’s remained largely peaceful, but I can still here the police helicopter flying overhead.

Gosh it must have been bad to live in such messy conditions all in the midst of the pandemic. We already have virus to handle and then add on with rioting, protestors it must have been horrible. Then add on with policemen who thinks they are right all the time and they can do whatever they want. It must have felt so bad to live through such conditions at this moment.

I just realized this comes from a extremely biased right-wing source. Antifa is not involved in these protests in particular. Apparently this guy as “attacked” by some a while back, and has a personal vendetta against the group that clearly plagues his reporting (which I learned upon doing some fact-checking on him).

I could not forget the death of George Floyd. I guess his is not the first case either. Sad to see how horrible America has turn into. And it all had to happen in the midst of the pandemic. I think the death of George Floyd had awaken the whole world and made the whole world realised what it is like to live in America.

And I'm ready to make puns if this passes:

Do you like Bharat people or Barat (Indonesian word for "West") people?

Actually Bharath should be better than Bharat or Barat

In south India its bharatha

There is also another competition to Bharat -Hindustan though the chances are less as it sounds more like land of Hindus.. So protests might be on cards. Interestingly when world wrestling championship were held in 2019 in Kazakhstan, in Kazakh language it was pronounced Hindustan and not India /Indo /Indie etc as in some countries.

In Special Olympics there is no India. It's just Bharat competing.

There still remains rather large support for protestors in spite of all the looting and violence.

It's my first time to hear a Bakersfield news for past 10 years. I spent a summer vacation there at 108 degree temperature when I was 16 and feeling weird that once again hearing this city name is because of riot.

let me surprise you that in Persian we also call your country as "Hindustan" (or Hendustan to be accurate) often shortened to "Hind/Hend"

Yeah, Persian is one of the few languages that still call Poland with the outdated name Lechistan. There seems to be a certain pattern there ;)

Lahestan to be accurate, actually if someone uses the word Poland/Polska I'm sure 99% will react like what ?, where is that ?! West of Africa ? :p

and yeah, we call some other countries with different names. and I can't see a clear pattern, some of the names we use are French (like Belgium/Belgique, Germany/Allemagne, Switzerland/Suisse) some are Arabic (Egypt/Mesr, Comoros/Qamar, Jordan/Ordon, Greece/Yunan) and some of them  are just different even though Poland is probably a unique case, I don't think any other country officially use the name Lachistan/Lahestan ! but I'm sure for example we are not the only one calling Netherlands as simply "Holland" !

we also enjoy to add -estan/-istan at the end of country names :p Bulgaria/Bolgarestan. Serbia/Serbestan, Armenia/Armanestan and there are lots of examples.

    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.

    • I don’t think that Scattolo would be slower/less competitive than multiple of your current starters, so as an Italian Coach I would Definitely give her a Chance in The World Cup.
    • Will be interesting To see if younger athletes Like Grotian or Tannheimer can keep their skiing speed After The christmas Break. In The Past younger athletes Like Grotian or Elvira Öberg often Lost their Speed over The Break.   Also interesting To see that Julia Kink is faster than Selina Grotian was last year, so hopefully Next year she will reach The Level that Grotian currently Has. I feel that Kink so far didn‘t get The results she would have Been Capable of.
    • Very early predictions for Team Germany: Julia Tannheimer will become The youngest ever Olympic medalist in biathlon Selina Grotian will become The third youngest ever Olympic medalist in biathlon Finn Sonnekalb will become The third youngest Olympic medalist in men’s Speed skating
