In Slovakia people literally bless themselves just by hearing the word Jobbik ;)

The thing I do not understand is If they claim not being the same anymore, why ffs they did not change the name ? This is completely stupid.

Parties change. Fidesz for example was a liberal centrist party between 1990 and 1994. Yes, Viktor Orbán was a liberal politician. After 1994 they realized that there was a power vacuum on the Hungarian right-wing, and they turned Fidesz into a conservative party. Did they change their name? Nope. The liberal Fidesz politicians who couldn't identify with their party anymore simply left. Just like how once Jobbik became a center-right party the neonazis decided to leave and made a new party called Our Homeland.

Yep. HUN politics looks too complicated for me, hard to keep up with the changes :d

Anyway, I just wanted to point out, that if you are more center and open minded politicians, it is pretty weird to use the name of a party world-widely famous for its extreme far-right crap, for your party new ideological direction. It is logical that People not so familiar with your politics and people outside Hungary will have hard time to buy that change :dunno:

2006 and the complete ineptitude of the Hungarian Socialist Party destroyed the left-wing here far more than the communists ever did.

I mean, look up the 1994 Hungarian election results: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Hungarian_parliamentary_election

We went full red just 5 years after the fall of Hungarian communism and the socialist party was in charge for 12 years (1994-1998, 2002-2010). The 2006 unrest and how the socialists handled it changed everything, and to this day the left-wing can't figure it how to build back its base back.

I think Hungarians don't actually hate left-wing politics. The issue is that the new wave of Hungarian young politicians think that Western progressivism is the answer against Orbán. Sometimes it feels like the opposition thinks they are campaigning in the US, not in Hungary. I mean, the main strategy of the 2022 opposition campaign was to literally copy Biden's anti-Trump campaign, and it didn't work because Hungarians don't hate Orbán the way many Americans hate Trump. This fucking "we are morally superior, give us all the power" centrists neoliberal shit needs to go because it clearly doesn't work in this country. Push some actual left-wing ideas because in this country it might actually win an election for them as it did before.

The same happened in Poland in the 1993 elections when the communists re-branded as "Democratic Left Alliance" regained power in a major after-shock of the first 4-year democratic spell that resulted in many jobs being lost as the country didn't bankroll majority of the companies anymore.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1993_Polish_parliamentary_election

Two years later Kwasniewski became President but he was actually one of the better former communists who didn't hang on to the past - unlike subsequent SLD leader Leszek Miller who was an old communist war eagle so to speak. Miller finally got bounced from politics and expelled from SLD in March of last year many years after he actually lost leadership of the party. Then again, last time the left-wingers won an election in Poland was 2001 when they could still play the sentimental card after a tumultous period of the 90s. Since 2005 it's all about the neo-liberals from Civic Platform or conservatives from Law & Justice here.

And yeah, the neo-liberal shit doesn't work in Poland either. CP was doing the "vote for us because we are not Law & Justice" crap and lost in all the electons since 2015. It doesn't frickin' work at all and they remain clueless. The fact they also raised the retirement age and said there is no welfare money for the children killed them in 2015 as well.

USA provokates China with selling weapons to Taiwan ,China replied  with activate nuclear bombs , another conflict begins because of  USA like usual

To be honest, USA routinely sells weapons to Taiwan and send small groups of military to train Taiwanese soldiers, but China will just react with routinely oral protesting. Even USA send warships to transit Taiwan Straight or send some governmental personnels to visit Taiwan every now and then, China will also just protest orally. China is fined by these typical Democrats' little tricks and posturing. It will hurt no one's core interests and made Democrats satisfied with its moral image and won reputation it wanted. If USA and China could maintain this tactic interaction, then Asia could stay peace.

What really hurt and anger China is the economic and technology sanctioned posed by Trump. These kind of sanction or ban need no legitimate reasons and just claiming to protect the interests of USA. But apparently Biden doesn't like this rude way, he needs legitimacy and rule-based order to maintain the status of moral supremacy leader and China is enjoying to deal with this kind of rival and enjoy the wast of time of bureaucracy.

    • Still wouldn't want an iconic dog around me though
    • Can't think of anything more efficient than creating a department on government efficiency and nominating not one but two people to lead it.   This has really strong "giving the two most annoying people you know busywork" energy
    • About the pictograms: I usually fail to see how they are tied to some city or country anyway, a slightly different line or font isn't going to make me think "Ah, Italy!" or "Yep, that's China!", so I am very happy with these ones  They look super recognizable, especially for the Summer Olympics it's often a puzzle to connect every pictogram with a sport, here it's very clear
    • It's not just some dog, Babydog is an icon of West Virginian politics!
    • Meanwhile also Elon Musk ('Government Efficiency') and some FOX News guy (Defense) have been put forward as likely nominees for ministerial posts. For now at least, we know there's going to be a 4 year tombola with people being hired as 'the best ever' and fired as 'a big loser' depending on how long they openly stay loyal to Trump (his words basically, loyalty to him personally is more important than good government).
    • Imagine being a senator and even there having to have someone else's dog around you at a place where you're supposed to be able to focus on important things
    • Fingers crossed the women’s curling gold medal match also undergoes changes, very preferably an hour earlier so it doesn’t conflict with the men’s hockey gold medal match    Seriously, what were they thinking
    • And yet another version is out . This time with some more noticeable changes.   Ice Hockey: Women's semifinals moved from the Rho Arena to the Santa Giulia Arena Women's gold medal game moved up to a 19:10 start time (was previous 20:10)   Speed Skating: Most of the events have had their session cut by somewhere between 5 and 30 minutes. Start times remain the same   Figure Skating: Looks like the order of events in team event is now: Ice Dance -> Pairs -> Women. Women were previously listed first.   Alpine Skiing: Downhill portion of the team combined cut by 45 minutes 1st Run of the Giant Slalom and Slalom events cut by 30 minutes   Ski Mountaineering: Sprint heats extended by 8 minutes. Finals session extended by 13 minutes   Ski Jumping: All sessions shortened by 5 to 15 minutes
