[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

Those Americans who aren't committed Social Justice Warriors are in for a difficult time in the next four years .

Remember Biden is in obvious cognitive decline and probably won't do the full term .

Remember Harris is so popular she was scoring an asterisk  ( or less than 1% of the vote ) when she withdrew from the Democratic Nomination for President

Interesting times ahead for non Americans

Why? A republican pollster (though not one with the greatest reputation) showed about 2/3 of the republican voters would vote for him, even after the situation at the Capitol. It would certainly be a massive blow to his chances, but he could still very well be a strong candidate in 2024, the Republicans wanting it or not.

Trusting Republican polls only when they fit aside... The reality is that most voters vote for parties and not for specific candidates. Just like most sports fans cheer for/against nations rather than athletes.

With Fox News no longer by Trump's side, Republicans can easily sell another candidate. Besides, a megalomaniac like Trump choosing to run independent after all this is more than just feasible.

Though much of Fox news has cut ties there are still some major supporters there.

Meanwhile the last 4 years has showed quite a lot of what Trump on the ticket does. 2016 and 2020 were pretty good (sure they lost the presidency but down-ticket they did very well) while 2018 and the Special elections were pretty disasterous.
Sure a lot vote for the party and not the person, but it would be crazy not to admit that he managed to get a lot of not so republican voters out there who could very well be lost again if he or people like him aren't there.

Don't get me wrong, the Republican Party could certainly also end up lie before Trump again, but it is pretty damn uncertain.

Impeachment won't make him a bigger threat as a candidate if it makes him incapable of running.

As a candidate, yes it won't make him a bigger threat but it would make his grip over his supporters even stronger and you don't want a situation where the next Republican primary is decided by a Trump endorsement.

And we go, Matteo Renzi (17 senators to 315) decide to close the government with M5S-PD and some left-wing party.

As always, Renzi is fucking dumb...

3rd governament since march 2018 is coming and, according to media, we already had in the years the most right-wind and the most left-wing governament in the Italian history :p

What circus

More right-wing than Mussolini? Some negative way, yet still impressive.

It's funny, in Poland several government critics accused Law & Justice of buying votes when they adopted a similar 500+ children welfare programme (that was supposedly going to be spend not on children but vodka because it's Poland) yet an albatross of a child welfare programme in the Netherlands brings that government down  (which shows you how idiotic the anti-Law & Justice critique in terms of 500+ really are).

Holland has been accused of being the driving force behind the rich EU North's fiscal policies, turns out these fuckers even wanted to save money at the expense of their own country's children? No wonder they're history now. Good riddance!

We‘ll see about that ...

Also: Once again great job connecting unrelated things to support your narrative.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

    • Apparently now Uhlaender is appealing to the IOC to add another spot and give it to her    Good grief, it's a US selection issue ultimately, they qualified two, how they award them is up to them... but she doesn't like their answer, and knows she has no legal standing to go thru those channels or CAS, so goes right to the IOC looking for special treatment.
    • ICE Police killed him , he was a nurse , 37 yo ... fking USA of trump
    • @hckošice Do you agree with me to some extent, or am I hopelessly dreaming?
    • Interesting forecasts, I like 'em! I think the US wins the most medals, but Norway tops the standings (most golds)... have Germany neck-and-neck with Norway for medals, but fewer gold.    Then have Canada and Italy fighting it out for 4th in 5th   Then have Sweden, Austrian, Japan, Netherlands and France rounding out the top ten, with them all within a medal or two of each other. Of course reality will differ significantly
    • A huge day for the very young Italian Bertini: despite a very tough draw, he beats Szilagy in the round of 16 and Gu in the quarterfinals! First career podium for him!
    • Time for more personal and detailed predictions:    will have it hard this time.   I'm trying to stay realistic about our chances. We're not going there as favorites in most events, and deep down I know it would be a big surprise if we suddenly overperformed or even dominated. Still, sports have a beautiful way of ignoring expectations.   We're never predicted to do amazingly well at either edition of the Olympics, so I’m desperately hoping for moments that will stay with everyone in the country for years, whether it's a final that keeps people glued to their screens or a performance that will make us proud. Just one medal could mean so much. It would bring real emotions and something to cheer for to a country that isn’t going through its best period right now. And on the rare occasion of a hockey miracle, celebrations in the streets wouldn't be an oddity.   It all comes down to four sports, the rest are out of reach:   Alpine Skiing is a big mystery, and it will all come down to Petra, whether she'll compete and eventually shock everyone with a heroic result. That's the best-case scenario. Biathlon can be the dark horse, you never know how things turn around. The women's relay is probably our biggest chance, but all four of them need to deliver great performances. As for Ice Hockey, our national sport, I'll always believe in another fairytale. I'll always believe we'll pull off a miracle. Since I wasn't alive yet when we won gold at the World Championships, I can only resort to watching old videos and imagine how amazing it must have been to watch as your country is the champion of the world in something. Best on the planet. Even the silver years later was amazing, but I was too young to actually remember it, so it's time for another hockey euphoria in the country. Ski Mountaineering is a bit overlooked in the media right now, but I believe we have a huge chance of winning a medal in one of the events. Our athletes aren't minnows.   We're a small country, still relatively young. There's not much we're known for in the world, but sports are a perfect way to build a national identity, to stop people from thinking you're still part of a state that ceased to exist decades ago. Doing well in sports is one of the few things these lesser-known countries can show off, not just the ones in Europe.   I'm desperately hoping for a medal, and we all want those two weeks of the Olympics to be amazing and full of unforgettable moments.
    • Never wanted a prediction to be more right
    • Two weeks before the Games officially begin, time to give my final predictions on the medal standings.     will beat  and win the medal table at the WOG for the first time in 100 years. All the (absurd) retirements of elite Norge athletes last season will have its consequences and they will drop to second.    will my bold pick to return to the top 3 after their horrendous Beijing performance, when it comes to Gold medals.     Germany will slip down and will have less than 9 golds for the first time in 50 years. Depending on how the chips fall in some sports, they could even be outside the top 5.   Home team of  will have their best Olympics in some, better than Torino, but it still won't be enough to get into the top 5.
