If McCallum makes the team, then give the individual quota to Skinner, please.

McCallum is the new Kyla Ross?

She is the new Ethiene Franco. It's bizarre that a person who cannot contribute in any way to the team was chosen over someone who realistically could: Skinner.

Anyway, I'm glad Skinner at least got the individual quota, but it will not be easy for her to get a medal. Unless, of course, she beats Jade Carey on vault. Carey should have no problems trying to get a medal on floor, if her foot heals quickly, that is.

So, Netherlands went the "we're trying a shot in the dark for individual medals" route with their women's team, and basically sacrificed any chance of reaching team finals. Sanne Wevers did not deserve to qualify, and it must be heartbreaking for Elze Geurts, who deserved to qualify, to stay home while someone will go to the Olympics in 2021 for what she did in 2016. Naomi Visser also deserved to qualify ahead of Vera van Pol. Really, what a weird choice. Nothing makes sense.

I can't say anything about this, since I have no idea about their chances or results or anything. But I would definitely prefer a shot in the dark for an individual medal over a chance of reaching a team final (where a medal would be far out of reach, I assume?).

Ethiene Franco lenda injustiçada

But seriously, McCallum in the team makes no sense. Maybe they just don't care since they're winning gold anyway.

Yes, I agree, but unless something drastic occurs, there's no point for letting Vera van Pol go to the Olympics. I kind of understand Eythora and Lieke Wevers, and being extremely pragmatic there's a reason why Sanne Wevers was chosen -- even though her chances are minimal this time. Maybe they're "hiding" something with Vera van Pol? It will be interesting to see.

    • Juniors were there recently and the track was awful   Although that's not necessarily bad. Tracks don't all need to be fast, a slow track (like the horribly slow one in Poland) simply favors a different style of athletes. Training a lot there doesn't really give much extra advantage though, not like in sliding sports where of course as host country you make sure your athletes know every single meter a year before the Olympics.    And to get back on topic: speed skater Elisa Dul broke her tibia and fibula in a training fall yesterday and will obviously be out of the OQT and so the Olympics.
    • The PSL race in Davos was (yet another) insult to a beautiful discipline. The red course (which was actually yellow) had several holes and an exposed ice sheet, which made the athletes slide way too long, causing DNFs or massive time losses. The only positive note is that Caffont won despite racing on the more dangerous course in the final
