Konstantin Koltsov 2 times Olympian (2002 Semifinalist & 2010)

typical Russian/Belarussian disease, I guess

but I though it was hitting people only when they were in their Home Country...we all know that out there the windows are always open (despite the cold Winter temperature) and don't have proper balustrades :hairpull:

:CZE Rower PAVEL SVOJANOVSKÝ passed away suddenly during handing over the prices after competition. Olympic medalist from 1976, 1980. While getting of the podium, he missed a step, ascended into a void and bumped his head. Ambulance was there in 5 minutes but could not help him. Amazing person, involved in projects of developing Czech Olympic hopes and very well respected person in Czech sports field. Such a tragedy. R.I.P. Mr. SVOJANOVSKÝ 😭😭😭😭

Bernd Hölzenbein, famous for his dive that gave West Germany a free penalty in the 1974 World Cup final, has died. He played in the US in the final years of his career, but said (long) career consisted mostly of many highly impressive years at Eintracht Frankfurt.

German football players are leaving this world fast the past few months..

Devastating news from the world of Brazilian cross-country skiing. Paulo Santos, who quit competing a few years ago but was still very much involved in the close-knit rollerskiing community around São Paulo, has died from appendicitis, aged only 30. He was the brother of 2018 Winter Olympian Victor Santos.

Dutch former figure skater Joan Haanappel has died in Belgium, where she had lived for years, aged 83. Competed in the Olympics in 1956 and 1960 with a 13th and 5th place, and won three bronze European medals. Together with Olympic champion Sjoukje Dijkstra she is seen as the best the Netherlands has ever had to offer in the sport.

She had also been a commentator for decades since 1975, mostly for NOS and Eurosport, and even hosted a major German sports show in the 80's.

A little over two months later and the other Dutch figure skating legend, the aforementioned Sjoukje Dijkstra, has passed away today, aged 82.
