Yeah nothing interesting in that German team, logically. I've been F5'ing the Südtiroler news sites for the selection of Italy's team all morning, way too curious :p

Yeah, Italy can't enter 3 women even if they wanted to. Qualified only two spots.

I'd still select Hofer over Robatscher :p

no way it's gonna happen...

had Armin taken this option into consideration, he would have started Hofer in 2/3 world cup stages, at least...

instead, she only competed in Igls (which is basically the home track for our youngsters) at the beginning of the season and then she's gone back to the youth world cup...

by the way, on our NOC website the Olympic Team already include Oberstolz/Gruber and Rieder/Rastner (+ the Fischnallers & Emanuel Rieder and Andrea Voetter & Sandra Robatscher) among the Luge starters in Pyeongchang...so, I guess there won't be a (although well deserved) chance for the teenagers Nagler/Malleier...now we can only hope in a last-minute change of mind by the Luge Directors (meaning mainly Armin Zoeggeler, who has the last word on anything about the technical decisions in the Team)...

Ugh, that'd be so sad and undeserved for Nagler/Malleier. A year ago, ok, but now? They deserve a place even if there's only two available (heck, even if there'd be one available I'd consider them).

I know they're not gonna choose Hofer instead of Robatscher, but it's what I would do personally :p

Hofer is a good bet for the future and this experience would be very valuable, whereas Robatscher is someone you might bring if you're going to be fine with a 'certain' 10th-20th place without really hoping for more.

Nagler/Mallaier fying to South Korea, Oberstolz/Gruber will stay at home.

It's a great news for our team. Great choice, thanks Armin :d

I was browsing La Gazzetta and saw this, came to this thread to cheer for this decision :d  (although personally I'd prefer to see Oberstolz/Gruber than Rieder/Rastner, but as long as Nagler/Malleier are there, I'm happy)

and finally the unexpected happened...

our teenagers flying to Korea...

what can we say? at least we can say that Armin Zoeggeler is not afraid to take not so popular decisions, also as a technical director of our team...

but, to be honest, I don't like the fact that they left Oberstolz/Gruber out of the team from now on...considering their career, they deserved at least to end their season with the team...

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same

Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
