dcro 10,182 Posted September 28, 2017 #22 Share Posted September 28, 2017 Sinkovićs into the final with the fastest time. I'm not quite expecting gold, they have been in this boat less than a year, but a medal would be nice. #banbestmen
vinipereira 3,054 Posted September 29, 2017 #23 Share Posted September 29, 2017 2 medals for Brazil, one in a non-Olympic event and the other in a non-Paralympic event. But still, good result for us.
phelps 6,872 Posted September 29, 2017 #24 Share Posted September 29, 2017 (edited) quite a good day for Italy once again...the men's senior double reached the final and so we have 5 of the 7 Olympic boats sure to end up in the top 6 (they would be qualified for the Games, if only the Summer Olympics were next year)... unfortunately, the womne's senior double missed out the qualification by quite a narrow margin, so we don't have any women's Olympic boat in the top 6 once again... moreover, in today's non-Olympic boats finals we got 1 Gold (and it was a great one, the second in our centennial history among the girls), 1 Silver, 1 bitter 4th place-finish and 1 5th place-finish... not bad, especially considering the very young age on average of our crews... let's hope to get some satisfaction also in the next couple of days, when it matters more (the men's senior pair shootout between Lodo & Vicino against the Sinkovic brothers is going to be one of the highlights of the entire worlds in my opinion)... phelps 6,872 Posted September 30, 2017 #26 Share Posted September 30, 2017 as I expected, the men's pair final was a fantastic race, with the Italians coming back strongly in the last 500 meters and winning a wonderful gold medal just a point ahead of the great Sinkovic brothers... NZL was together with ITA and CRO for most of the race, but they disappeared when ITA and CRO changed gear in the final few meters...
phelps 6,872 Posted September 30, 2017 #27 Share Posted September 30, 2017 also the men's lightweight double scull was a very exciting race, better than expected...France confirmed themselves unbeatable, but the final sprint for silver between Italy and China (with Poland coming back strongly, too) was really amazing... and Italy is getting medals as if it was raining...very good job, guys! Werloc 3,127 Posted September 30, 2017 #28 Share Posted September 30, 2017 Woah, honestly didn't expect that our 4 men boat would win the gold I wonder what our doubles can do tomorrow.
mrv86 2,924 Posted September 30, 2017 #29 Share Posted September 30, 2017 First place in both lightweight singles is a decent result for Mexico... I hope they continue funding our athletes, especially our U23 silver medalist.
