Very impressive win for Germany against Australia (74:64) even without Maodo Lo. Before the last quarter it was 62:43! but then Schröder fouled out half way through the last quarter and the game got somewhat close again.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Just to give you an idea how much FIBA succeeded at making this a "top worldwide sport event": the Hungarian broadcaster doesn't give shit about the matches of the first two days. Not even CZE-USA, because F1 is far more important.

And this is in a country that was relatively close to qualifying.

The Netherlands was slightly less close to qualifying, but no way there's any attention for it here :p (maybe the final will be mentioned in the sports news, as in "Serbia beat the disappointing USA and won gold" but that's all)

F1 is of course far more important here too, but then again, we've got a public broadcaster (but to be fair, there's cycling today among others) and two sports channels wth multiple channels. I guess they didn't wanna waste money on an event sadly almost nobody would watch.

    • The story of  boxer Dmitrijs Avsijenkovs and his incredible 100%, 29 fight knockout record.    Unfortunately.....   Boxer who was knocked out 29 times in 29 fights finally gave up on his disastrous career
    • apparently our NOC rejected the winter sport federation request to send a bigger delegation.   they published a list of just 14 athletes. 8 in CC skiing, 2 in Alpine and 4 in SkiMo. equal number of male and female athletes in each sport.
