Anyone looking particularly forward to tomorrow? The only thing I can really get excited about when looking at the schedule is the women's long jump final and Alina Talay's heat in the 100m hurdles :p

Hammer throw final :d

Richard Douma has been added to the 1500m semi's, his protest was accepted :yikes:

Apparently they protested a move by Musagala, which the IAAF accepted. Odd, I was certain it was his own fault.

Hopefully not with a mighty Fajdek or else that's gonna be a boring affair as well :p (I mean, the man can win, no problem, but please don't let it be over after 1 throw :d )

Why not womens 3000 m SC? Should be legendary. Womens 800 m and mens 1500 m semifinals should also be interesting, those are by far my favorite track events, because there are at least some tactics involved. The three-way battle in womens 200 m should also be interesting.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Actually Nowicki have more chances for gold than Fajdek :d I think that hidden Russians can challenge us, I hope that both Fajdek and Nowicki will leave London with medals :pope:

Well, I'm excited for 800m semi-finals. Also, Perkovic starting her campaign in the morning session.

Because I don't care much about these Kenyans in the women's steeple. Nothing against them, I just don't really care (also nothing against Kenya btw, I like Yego, I like Asbel Kiprop, just these specific steeple athletes, great as they are, don't get me excited).

Sure semifinals are interesting, but not the 'omg I can not miss this' kind of interesting. Neither is the women's 200m this time, no Thompson, no Bowie, Ta Lou who had to go full pull to get to 22.50, Miller-Uibo who might be feeling that 400 a little too much, Schippers who almost walked her way through the semi's. I expect Schippers to win by a relatively big margin, but I definitely hope I'm wrong and it'll be as close as the men's final. Don't really care who wins, as long as it's a close final I'm happy.

Dutch interviewer asking Makwala in the mixed zone: "Are you sad you didn't get a medal in the end?"

No, I'm sure he's dancing in the streets to celebrate his not winning a medal!

Why? Is Fajdek injured? It's true that he failed in Rio, but he is 23-2 against Nowicki over the last 2 years.

    • There is an interview where Foy goes into more details, and I find it particularely heartbreaking because her reasons for not coming forward at the time (concerns about professional retaliation and concerns about the effect it would have on Sørensen and his family) remind me a lot of why someone I know who got sexually assaulted (and had bulletproof evidence of it) didn't report it to the police.

    • This is not a full retirement, but kind of a break/sabbatical due to...reasons.    For those who have been following @brunamoura's journey towards and last February eventually, finally, at the Olympics, this might be an interesting update. The 2030 Olympics are still in her sight, but next year's world championships in February seem...unlikely.   She still needs to do at least two surgeries, one on her nasal cavities due to a chronic inflammation that has been bothering her for years, and one on her legs. In the Olympic season she struggled immensely with pain in her legs, which in the freestyle technique made her sometimes just not even able to move and therefore finish or even start the races. The Olympic 10k freestyle was hard and painful, but she managed to get through it. We knew she was dealing with compartment syndrome, which is quite serious and certainly needs to be dealt with surgically, but the recovery time for that meant that doing so during the season would likely jeopardize the Olympics - again.   The plan was to do the surgeries this year, but that's unlikely to happen now...
    • My admittedly tiny sample at least made it feel like the safest and nicest place     Milan....I was very glad to be out of there, Bologna almost felt even worse, and I was also happy to leave Trento behind after barely a day there   Livigno didn't feel bad like that, the issue there is that Livigno people seem to believe the world outside of Livigno doesn't really exist.   Every time I have been in South Tyrol though, it always just felt...lovely, cozy, nice, friendly, and so on.   But obviously that is all a matter of opinion. Besides that I mostly went on statistics and Alto Adige generally scoring very high in things like quality of life and low crime rates
