i was really sure that ilya is a doper , it's time for making strict rules or just throw the sport out of olympic program , this's really annoying

well that was obvious when he didn't participate in World Championship in Houston (in USA where they are serious about doping) to compete in President Cup in Moscow to break World Record ! it doesn't make sense at all unless you have something to hide.

This guy was banned for doping till October/November 2015 and because of some administrative mistakes (they wrongly announced him "retired" to WADA) he had to stay out of weightlifting until few days ago. and per IWF rules you have to compete in two tournaments to be eligible for Rio, that's why he is here, Ajan himself invited him. Actually Iran hosted a Grand Prix few days only and only because of him. he is a gold medal contender.

btw we had Belarus in Asian Championship.

Is it sure that Mohradi will go to Rio or might Iran send someone else in his class? I'm definitely hoping for the latter, but if they send him, I'd be happy to see him repeat his London performance :p

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Talk about IWF wanting to keep it clean. When they are allowing convicted dopers to compete at foreign regional championships just to be eligible for Rio...

lol I just wrote they hosted a tournament only because of him. he will go to Rio for sure unless he gets injured or something.

he had some super crazy results in training, he just didn't participate anywhere to make those results official, in Iran Grand Prix , he came up only twice (1 in snatch and 1 in CJ) and finished with 400 which is enough for a medal. he can even go for 420 .

Iran has chance for only 3 gold medals in Rio in weightlifting (actually 2 since Salimi is still injured) they can't afford losing one.

I know it doesn't make sense but actually IWF was a part of this "administrative mistake" , they had to let him participate to avoid another story.

they also let Rybakov participate in Asia because he missed the European because of meldonium , later they said he was innocent and instead let him participate in Asia

Finally after MONTHS, IWF announced final decision about 10 more positive tests from 2015 World Championship, if we count the Turkmenistani guy who received his ban before, now 11 out of 24 cases are closed

interestingly while they banned 3 other Russian weightlifters, still nothing about Lovchev ?!

So, now the mess o'clock can start!

As a start, Azerbaijan will drop from Olympics after this cases. Meaning that Japan is probably qualified through World rankings and so on... It's gonna be an incredible mess, and all because IWF wasn't competent enough to deal with this shit on time.

Hristov and Zairov, but no Kostova. Could that mean the reports about those 3 were only partially true?

And can someone kick Azerbaijan out of sports for a while? They're worse than Russians :d

Kostova wasn't in original list. this is only about positive tests from 2015 worlds, I think her sample is suspicious for another event lol

The remaning 13 weightlifters are mostly from Kazakhstan, Belarus, North Korea and Moldova  (plus Lovchev of Russia and a guy from KSA)

    • GOLD FOR MOL/SØRUM!!!!    WOO HOO!!!      Phenomenal match this was, the Qataris played really well too (their ball control really let them down at the end though)   Probably one of the best finals I’ve ever watched (Hamburg Elite 16 in 2022 between Bryl/Łosiak and Meeuwsen/Brouwer was another)   What a grind it was from them to come back from down 10-13 down in set 3, also having to save 2 MP’s.
