with this new STUPID rule, some wrestlers prefer to be "passive" in the first period. that will help a lot in case of 1-1, which happens in close matches specially in heavier weights.

btw Chekhirkin survived against Georgia by a last seconds pushout. he doesn't look good at all.

few minutes left before the start of important quarterfinals. Russia is really lucky to still have 3 wrestlers alive. both Chikhirkin and Alirzaev scored very late in last 15 seconds to win. for Alirzaev it was a dubious call. they had to review it for 4-5 minutes, can't say if he used his leg or not but Datunashvili was very close to eliminate Russia.

Chikhirkin-Nemes will be the most important match of the QF, Nemes has a "new strategy" here, conceding the first caution and then win the match 1-1 (in case he fails to score in the 2nd period) he could count on his rock solid defense in first two matches but against Russia ? I'm not sure but I have a feeling this match is going to finish 1-1.

also some notable wrestlers got disqualified (most probably failing to make weight) Noumonvi and Kandevaki for example. Alexuc-C also wrestled like a lazy bear and lost to Kosvevic that opens the door for someone new to qualify at 130kg. Poland or Croatia most probably.

so far I saw 2-3 questionable calls , mostly in favor of certain country. but I'm not sure though. it's just hard to follow 3 mats at the same time.

    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.

    • yes, there are (or there was, at least) don't forget that the women's 800m had world and olympic champions like Semenya, Jelimo and Nyonsaba...basically, it was 10 years of DSD winners only the same Athing Mu was suspected to be DSD (never confirmed, but somehow she totally disappeared after Tokyo) then, there were the 2 girls from Namibia (1 won a medal over 200m in Tokyo) in Italy we have the living scandal Valentina Petrillo (a paralympian!!!), who's actually a real man not to mention the weightlifter from who took part into the Tokyo Games so, it's a real problem all around the globe, not just a US crusade against a few woke idiots
