I am sorry to say it but Women's Water Polo is a joke.

Looks like the days when China had a very good women's team are very much gone now (have been since 2016 really). So it doesn't look like a really competitive will miss out on Olympic 10-teams tournament.

Japan, as host, could also surpass China by that time and thus become the best on the continent anyway.

I imagine one of those two extra spots will be used to separate the host nation and the continental qualifier so both China and Japan will likely qualify.

Japan finished 10th in men's Water polo, from what i see this is the best rank ever for an Asian team in men's world championship. even though there is still a big big gap but looks like Japan (and even Kazakhstan) are improving.
