Henri Deglane Grand Prix of France Preliminary Entries

https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/henri-deglane-grand-prix-france-preliminary-entries

the most interesting name is Mijain Lopez ! the other Cuban guy Oscar Pino is here too. I think it can be some kind of Cuban trials. to makes things more interesting Riza Kayaalp is in the list too ! :hyper:

there are some other big names like Petriashvili, Snyder, Dake, Taylor, Khinchegashvili, Sharifov and Gadzhiev in the list too. sounds like a decent tournament if these guys actually show up.

UWW moves 2022 World Championships from Russia to Serbia.

technically that's awarding Russia, not punishing :d they got the main Olympic Qualification tournament (2023 Worlds) instead of a normal World Championship in 2022.

This is like punishing your kid by sending them to their room (to play on their computer).

watch how a random Kyrgyz guy (well not really random, I knew him for a long time but still) makes the great Artur Aleksanyan fly today in an international tournament in Ukraine.

executing this technique is really hard against anybody 100kg, let alone against the Olympic champion, one of the best wrestlers in the world. :hyper::yikes:

this is the last match of the video

The plus time European medallist Kabaloev switch to Italy from Russia.

still, there's no chance to see him fighting for a spot in Tokyo 2020, since he can't beat burocracy...

hopfully, we will have to wait until Paris 2024 for him to represent Italy at the Olympics...

    • Slovakia pulled the goalie out in the Overtime and played 4 vs 3  for more than 2 minutes    We suddeenly pulled out goalie and have control of the puck for like 2 minutes in the first 2 minutes of the overtime but without soring than lost the puck and give up a 2 on 0 breakaway empty net goal for the czechs    Interesting strategy

    • Yeah, there's certainly things to complain about from an athletes' perspective, but snow should really not be much of an issue indeed. Mostly things like the enormous geographical spread and it's consequences like there not being one big opening ceremony and everything being spread around a bunch of small Olympic 'villages'/accomodations - so not really the Olympic feeling and atmosphere for the athletes since they'll mostly just stay around athletes of their own sport as in any regular competition.   We'll be going very near to the Olympic area in a few weeks (Coppa Italia in Falcade), let's see what things look like by then.
    • need to work on the celebrations... or just drop them?   Btw, these jerseys suck and I remember Zambia playing in all white with red numbers. At least they have orange on national flag but still...
    • British Columbia in general and Vancouver in particular are awesome and it’s great more people got to discover it thanks to Vancouver 2010.
    • And of course the British being famous for curmudgeons, there were always plenty of curmudgeons to quote.  Then of course from the opening ceremony and the cycle race on the very first morning it was obviously going to be triumph, so everyone just shut up for a while.
    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory
