I was hoping for Tsitsipas to win but yes, Nadal - Djokovic will be much more exciting than the forgettable US Open. ;)

Ugh.

After a bit of a controversial moment at 4-4 40-40 in the last set: referee said a ball crossed the net via Swiatek's hand, she and Melichar denied it rather emotionally (Swiatek was almost crying even), but they did lose the point. They got back to deuce after that, but who knows what would have happened if they had gotten advantage.

Iga and Nicole would be in final :d

But it's maybe even better that they lost this match, before tomorrow's final she will not thinking that is unbeatable and will keep focus on the game.

What a performance! Without dropping set, not losing more than 4 games per set and match!! Beating Halep, Kenin (top 10), Vondroušova with tricky players like Hsieh and Bouchard(lol) to become the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title!

And this is the first ever title for Swiatek :d Let's hope she won't become like Ostapenko, but I think she won't. She is different :)

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
