The IOC are risking 2028 over the boxing issue. Increasing the risk a Trump Goverment would cancel the games and organise they own event without the IOC being involved.

No, there is too much $$$$ involved (which Trump is not averse too) plus there are plenty of opportunities for "America is the greatest country in the history of the world" type chest thumping with the US hosting the Olympics.

With this boxing issue the boxing will either be sacrificed or the IOC is pressured into not accepting DSD athletes like these two.

Sponsor pressure and broadcaster pressure ($) will do the trick.

After the Bud Lite scandal no American corporation wants another trans/gender controversy (particularly with Ron DiSantis et al breathing down their necks)

The same for any kind of opening ceremony controversy: there's no thing advertiser/sponsor pressure cannot solve.

More interesting is what happens with the WADA dispute and the issue of Chinese athletes accused of doping.

Considering that China is not exactly the most popular country in the US (irrespective of political party)

I can images Trp writing on Twitter or truth whatever: "Our heroic swimmers need to compete against Chinese drug cheats and the pro-China WADA does nothing. VERY BAD!!!"

Now that swimming heats are all done, these should be the new time standards for 2028. These are the faster of the 14th place finisher in the 2024 Olympic heats or the current qualification time for the 2024 Olympics. The good news about a slower pool is that the standards didn't change that much between the two Olympics.

Event Men Women
50m Freestyle 21.91 24.69
100m Freestyle 48.34* 53.61*
200m Freestyle 1:46.26* 1:57.26*
400m Freestyle 3:46.78* 4:07.90*
800m Freestyle 7:48.90 8:26.71*
1500m Freestyle 15:00.99* 16:09.09*
100m Backstroke 53.68 59.99*
200m Backstroke 1:57.50* 2:10.30
100m Breaststroke 59.49* 1:06.69
200m Breaststroke 2:09.68* 2:23.91*
100m Butterfly 51.58 57.82
200m Butterfly 1:55.78* 2:08.43*
200m Individual Medley 1:57.94* 2:11.47*
400m Individual Medley 4:12.50* 4:38.53*

However, if there's another big cut in quotas, there's a chance that World Aquatics will make the standards harder perhaps taking the time of the 12th place finisher in heats. If that were the case, then these would be the time standards:

Event Men Women
50m Freestyle 21.89 24.64
100m Freestyle 48.34* 53.61*
200m Freestyle 1:46.26* 1:57.26*
400m Freestyle 3:46.76 4:07.90*
800m Freestyle 7:47.91 8:26.71*
1500m Freestyle 14:55.61 16:09.09*
100m Backstroke 53.45 59.99*
200m Backstroke 1:57.50* 2:10.09
100m Breaststroke 59.49* 1:06.38
200m Breaststroke 2:09.68* 2:23.91*
100m Butterfly 51.43 57.57
200m Butterfly 1:55.78* 2:08.43*
200m Individual Medley 1:57.94* 2:11.47*
400m Individual Medley 4:12.50* 4:38.53*

* No change

If they moved equestrian to Temecula, why is tennis still in carson?? Indian wells is one of the biggest tennis stadiums in the world. Granted it's going to be hotter then hell there but Temecula is not far away from there

Yes, tennis tournament will be held in Carson which used to host WTA tournament until 2009. Indian Wells is very hot in March already (their traditional ATP & WTA date) and it would be a scorcher in July & August. Plus wind is usually a factor in Indian Wells too
